Yet another shadowlands q - regarding 4k tv as monitor

Currently running the part list below but I have issues with frames on my 50" 4k tv. Hoping it is because of the 1060 and not something else. I was looking at a 2070 super originally before I took a break, but with the new cards rumored and SL possibly not coming for a bit yet I can wait.

Anyone see any issues here that would prevent me getting good performance if I replace with an 8gb card?

Even my Rx 580 (1060 equivalent) was able to run 4k at decent settings during Legion, never tried it in BfA

Are you OC the 8600k by any chance?

Could also be heat related, I know for sure when I run at 4k, temps go up wild vs playing at 1440p

I’d say check temps first on the GPU

Yes I OC to about 4.75ghz and it’s very stable. I know wow is more cpu intesnive than anything, but cpu is never really over 75%, gpu around 45%.

FPS in some areas is 60 but others down into 40’s. I will check the temps. Eventually planning to upgrade to a higher refresh tv so if I can get a high frame combo I would be pretty pleased.

I am running on mostly high settings. I really want to be able to max everything out or close.

Once you push past 1080p, the GPU starts making a little of a difference in WoW.

If WoW is your only game, you would do well with a 2060 Super honestly at 4K.

it’s mostly my only game, but i do get into some other newer games once in a while. i think the extra hundred is worth it, i just am curious if i am missing something else in my setup that is holding me back. i am not sure why i would only be getting 40-60 fps instead of a solid 60 with the other parts, so i am just guessing it has to be the 1060.

Make sure your power supply has a the correct PCI cables. I think the 2070S uses 8 + 6 PIN.

Good looks, I will check into that. I may hold out for the 3000 series but it’s good to have a plan in place.
