I am literally shaking as I type this.
Today I came across a hunter while slaying gnomes outside of Lakeshire. I watched in disgust as he brazenly paraded around the zone, most likely searching for new overpowered pets to break the game with.
Offended by his presence, I immediately charged the hunter and outplayed him by clicking on my hamstring icon. By all logic, I should have won the fight. He was completely deadzoned with no way of escaping, and should have been forced to have an honorable and high-skilled melee fight to the death. But hunters have no concept of honor - just as I was about to finish him I was frozen in place by his frost trap.
This hunter was EXPLOITING the environment by placing traps while out of combat. The only way he could have known to place a trap was if he used his track humanoids ability to see me on the map and then placed his trap in anticipation. This is clearly not an intended ability synergy, and the hunter was ABUSING his abilities to get an unfair PvP advantage over more skilled players.
This is clearly not blizzard’s fault, only a hunter could be so Machiavellian as to come up with a tactic this toxic and unfair. I am simply trying to bring this new exploit to attention. Here is my proposed fix:
- track humanoids now slows the hunter by 85%. This will make the ability more realistic, because the hunter has to slow down and pay attention while tracking. Also warriors can not be tracked.
- all Hunter traps are now visible to players, and are 300% larger to make sure they are noticeable
- frozen players will now have all their movement abilities reset. This way, they will still have a fair chance of beating the hunter
I think these fair and well-researched adjustments will make world PvP less toxic and more skill oriented.
