#YesChanges to Fix Wrath

TBC raids and heroics were considered difficult then and now they’re done by the majority of the playerbase, aka they are easy.

Wrath was considered easy even then, so yes it will be even easier with decade of knowledge and cause people to get bored and quit.
If you can’t see this most obvious problem then I believe that’s a personal issue.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but doesn’t that happen with every expansion? Genuine question because at the start of Classic there was a surge of people and by the time I hit 60 (iirc 2 months) or a bit after people just stopped playing.

The same happened in TBC, surge of players that just dropped off after a couple months.

I think people will stop playing WotLK regardless but I guess that wasn’t your point

As someone who’s never played WoW outside of Classic and TBC I’m not against dungeon/raid buffs but, I’d like to be more than X boss gets more health. Now I don’t see Blizzard doing this but if they were going to buff raids/dungeons then I’d want new mechanics but that requires work and something Blizzard would say is better suited for SoM.

As for LFD, I think LFD has it’s place, I think it’s unnessecary in early WotLk as people would be running dungeons and a lot of them. I think the best time to have it would be… Phase 2? Is that when it was added in the first place? idk but after P1 dungeons will be on a sure decline of participation probably have trouble finding a group late p2-middle p3, I’d say roughly that LFD should be added then.

Sorry if i went off on a tangent (i do that a lot)

Glad your post is marked as trolling.

my biggest thing is for them to make heroic dungeons harder and make them on par with how TBC dungeons were when people were gearing up,

That doesn’t mean your proposed changes aren’t dumb ones.

Ummm. Wrath was by far their most populated expansion? So not sure why it was “flatlined” when it was their time of biggest sub rate?

It actually did flatline, as the sub growth from launch → end was actually far smaller than both vanilla and TBC’s, and it was the first time in WoW’s history the sub growth flatlined. It stopped growing, and didn’t grow past it.

If you look at charts detailing sub growth, which are fairly accurate since Blizzard used to brag about their subs, it shows the subs that Blizzard went into Wrath with and what they had throughout the expansion is pretty close. Wrath kept players, but it didn’t bring in a lot of new players.

Wrath did bring in a lot of new players early on, but also lost a lot of older players later on in the expansion, particularly after Ulduar onto TOC/ICC. Burnout of constant grind spamming crusader dailies and LFD spamming for badges, and don’t forget an entire 12 month content drought. (is still the biggest content drought in wows history)

I mean, looking at sub counts, there was a slight and gradual into stagnant gain in Wrath. If it was getting new players throughout, older players were leaving at almost the same rate.

It wasn’t. Ignoring Ruby Sanctum (which is debatable if it’s content at all), 3.3 was released in December 2009 and Cataclysm was released in October 2010. That’s 10 months, with a small content patch in between. On the other hand, Siege of Orgrimmar was released in September 2013 whereas WoD was released in October 2014 - 13 months. Shadowlands was released October 2020, whereas it’s first patch was June 2021, 8 months later, and the final content patch of Shadowlands was released 8 months later.

While Blizzard rightfully got criticism for how long 3.3 → 4.0 took, they’ve only gotten worse.

I’d say let LFD come in for all older dungeons and Wrath Normal Dungeons, but don’t add Wrath heroics into it until a later phase. LFD is useful for leveling alts.

That flatline could have simply been the maximum market size for an MMO at that time.

12 million is a freaking huge number of players.

Congrats, you and most everyone playing rn has played during wrath. I was a dumb kid that didn’t know what hit rating was until mid wrath and still succeeded. It’s gonna be funny when you waltz through ulduar like it was nothing and get bored because the game hand feeds you everything.

Who spends one to two hours in one tbc heroic this late into the game? You might be on a dead server. I see nonstop heroics.

My wishlist:

  • No flying for Phase 1 at least.
  • Good honour rewards for Grizzly Hills World PvP quests.
  • Difficult dungeons (e.g. can’t just AOE)
  • No Dungeon Finder
  • No heirlooms
  • Redesign Wintergrasp without vehicles, and no flying there ever.
  • Replace Strand of the Ancients and Isle of Conquest with a better battleground.

My man, if this is truly your wish list, just quit when TBC is over. WOTLK is not the expansion for you.

Most of the things you want are just…bad. Grizzly Hills Pvp stuff could use a buff, as it was a dead area throughout most of the game…but the rest…just no.
