Even if one is just playing in a relaxed way with no ambitions of playing beyond one’s comfort zone, how min-maxed one is affects where boundaries of that comfort zone are encountered.
Sounds like you were the kind of kid who burnt himself once on the stove, so then refused to cook anything on the stove for the rest of your life. I’m sorry your wow experience is like eating microwave food everyday that must really suck…
Most World first raiders could probably all time a +15 with their non min-maxed alts. but that’s irrelevant.
You have timed a +15 now. but with the same group, same player, but min-maxed character, you guys would probably time a +16. or more +15s. or even a +17. By not min-maxing, your achievement is less than what it could be.
It may not matter to you since your skill level seem to be enough to get a 15+ timed even with poor character. but for players that struggle to get to that point, min-maxing is important.
Its about achieving the best one can achieve. Not about unambitious goal you set for yourself.
WoW is a game, Champ. It doesn’t matter what level of skill you play at, that’ll never change. You need a new hobby methinks.
Are you giving career advice or talking about a video game?
I agree with just about everything you’ve said, and most people enjoy getting upgrades. I disagree that gear determines your goals, and not the other way around. You don’t need BiS to do a 5 mask, yet you get 470 corrupted gear for your efforts. You can get into a 12 with 460 gear, and get a 470 loot box.
I mean, it all depends on an individual’s goal too much to make that blanket statement
When doing group content you should always think about what’s best for the group to succeed. No matter the level it’s selfish to not put effort forward to do your best
This is an assumption without basis so your entire argument is standing on an unproven supposition.
No.
Optimizing your character is picking good, not getting. Improving your skill is getting good.
Huge difference.
I get it. You want to boil everything down to numbers and want everyone else to do the same so they support your progression. I hope you found or find a guild of like minded individuals.
But, no, the average player does not need to min/max their characater in order to progress outside of the highest levels.
You’re probably just attempting to sound “edgey” but your attitude isn’t any better than the “foaming” mythic raider. You’re just as impatient and hateful as he was, just for different reasons. If you were a mythic raider, your attitude would likely be the same because you seem to go through WoW without compassion for others. You can choose to shut someone down with a “Hey bro, that’s uncalled for. Chill.” rather than “tearing into them”. Your behavior is just as toxic and doesn’t help the community either.
The whole point of this game is to get gear and attain more power. When you Min/Max or Twink you have attained your true power.
The point that’s being missed is that the reason people say you don’t need to min/max unless you’re progression is because the threshold met to be successful doesn’t require perfection. Only in the races does it go to that level where you’re clawing for every bit of minor advantage to complete the objective as fast as possible.
This is also why Blizzard says everything is viable. Because everything is. Objectives can be met with all classes and specs. Some perform better than others. Only when certain specs go outside the acceptable boundaries(good or poor performance) do they make adjustments.
it’s really hard to take a post like this seriously when the OP is afraid to post on their main and opts to instead try and make the point on a level 10
