Yeah, I'll get to 80

Thats fine, i know plenty of tanks and healers.

Im not worried about tabks that sell their services, because making social connections makes grouping easier and easier the more connections i make.

That’s the plan. No dungeons with pugs because no RDF!

I actually changed mains from disc priest to hunter so I could do solo content and not need to worry about a group if my guild isn’t available.

I call most of them friends lol!

Its not instant q for DPS, but it allows us to be looking for a group while exploring the big wide world in the MMO without being locked down to reading scrolling text or a window (new awful LFG tool or LFG Bulletin Board).

After reading most of your forum posts I am doubtful you actually have any friends.

Why, because i have a different opinion than you on rdf? You think people with different opinions on a single subject cant be friends then?

I guess its hard for the antisocial who want this game to play like a queue based arcade game to understand how treating the game like an mmorpg helps you get groups.

Nah, just my opinion you tend to get toxic at times. We can disagree and be friends tho!

Yes, wanting to be able to queue and then go out and enjoy the world is way more anti-social then staring at scrolling LFG chat or staring at a window (the new awful LFG tool or LFG Bulletin Board) all while just sitting in a city…

I group regularly while questing and farming…

I dont even have the bulletin board addon.

Then again i spent over 2 years actively trying to build social connections.

I try to find groups but I get bored looking so I then just go do solo stuff

i have tons of social connections…I didn’t try at tho…it just happened.

I went out of my way to help dozens of people finish group content in classic and in tbcc. I also gave free dmt buffs to a lot of tanks and healers in classic. I have given and or sold durt cheap (depending on how low on gold i was) consunes to tanks and healers

Im still running BT, Hyjal, ZA and kara now and then for peoples alts, when i need nothing from there, not even badges as i have been using my badges to give people gems.

Nobel peace prize nominee right here!

I mean, i did it knowing it would help me in the future… its kind of how old school MMORPGs work.

Reputation on the server matters.

People on this forum claim that people who want RDF are the majority so based on that you do realize that you will be spiting mainly people who agree with you on this and aren’t “anti”. You understand that right?

Yeah, but you shouldn’t need a guild to make friends.

Shouldn’t have. And people shouldn’t be required to either. Want to form social connections, do so outside of a computer. Its a game, treat it as one.

Wait, there shouldn’t be extra hurdles just to enjoy a game?

Depends on the game.

MMORPG games are meant to have social interactions and social connections. Its part of the games base design. Retail and other “mmorpg” have moved away from this design and is why a lot of people dont like retail or other “modern” mmorpg games.

Blizzard wants classic games to be more focused on the older style of design of mmorpg games because they have retail for those who like the “modern” design of “convenience over community”.

If you want instant gratification gameplay there are games for that. Wotlkc doesnt appear to be that type of game though.

they miss captive audiences gotten through enabling para-social behavior within artificial enviroments. Anecdotal niche cases aside, ingame acquaintances are not ‘your community’, they’re just tangentially connected to you through a very regulated ecosystem provided by a publisher who charges you for it. Not friends, not family, not server-buddies. Just faceless NPCs you grew attached to.

Right, because delayed gratification on trivial dungeons is what makes the game satisfying

Do you even know what NPC means?

Non player character.

Ive met a few of the people i play wow with in real life, i still occasionally hang out with them here and there.

I get that i likely wont be close friends with most of the people i play wow with. Doesnt mean they are not a friend though, its just to a lesser degree.

Delayed gratification that you have to work for is sometimes more rewarding.

Putting effort into something can make it feel more rewarding in the end. As an example getting a rare mount feels more rewarding because its not easy and not everyone will have it.

As far you are concerned, there is no tangible difference for you between a random person anywhere in the world and a pre-programmed chatbot running random dungeon invitee #181918. Most of them you won’t ever meet, won’t care about and won’t notice if they dissappear. I was under the impression that you did, which is why I think it’d be sad to conflate internet personas with real people.

A core group of close friends whom you get to know beyond the game is nice, but also should not be a requirement for the full game experience. More so, growing attached to strangers and pretending game connections are meaningful should even more so not be either required or enabled. Its toxic and predatory, specially on the vulnerable (easily addicted, socially inept, co-dependant, etc.).
