There’s been a pattern going on since Wrath. We’ve seen it before.
Really? Worked in:
Biotech, Hospitals, O&G, Energy production, USAF, Financial Advisory, and Federal gov’t. Been everything from a BA, to Soft Dev to IT Director. I have seen it all, my dude. Business is business. The market only has so much patience for the softer side. Sorry if this is hard for some folks to hear, but it is what it is. I… don’t even know why I am trying to convince you. You assumed my background because you don’t agree with my opinion. Says all I need to know.
So now the whiteknight excuse isn’t wait for the next expansion, but wait for the new corporation?!
I’m sorry but this now has become a ‘bottom up’ issue. It is plain to see the employees had an adversarial relationship and probably a passive aggressive attitude toward the quality of their work.
When I worked union construction sites sometimes to address a grievance the union guys would call for a ‘slowdown’, that is it looked real busy when in fact I might spend the day walking the same pile of lumber from one spot back to where I started.
I said this over a year ago, that the prestige of having worked there was gone and now it is detrimental to your resume’ to admit it.
they were receiving best employer awards based on employee satisfaction surveys done by independent third parties during all those ‘terrible’ years. What workplace have you ever worked at that 90% of the employees were happy to work their and were proud to say where they worked - I haven’t worked for one.
God that’s even worse. Your type of mentality would’ve been excusable for some random college kid but it’s just sad seeing an actual adult that is that short sighted.
I feel like you’re angry at the wrong people. The folk not doing anything at Blizzard were the party bro dudes who liked to get drunk at work (and literally did beer crawls through cubicles), leaving women and minority employees to play catch-up with everything.
So you have any actual counter-points you would like to add to a discussion? Or we just gonna continue the ad hominems? Ever stop to think why real change never happens?
“I don’t like what you have to say, so you must just be an X, so I will remove myself from the conversation, because you aren’t worth talking to”. All the while, you claim to… “care about how people are treated”. Sad says we live in… sigh
I am not actually angry about any of this, although some of it saddens me. I just felt like having a real discussion on the topic, instead of this typical dance we do around the subject. Ybarra’s latest post simply stirred me to action. Just bored drinking my coffee. I don’t hold any animus to anyone, in this thread or otherwise. I love people, in general. I am actually an empath, at a high level. I just believe in reality and I do NOT think telling people to jump off a cliff is showing them love.
Except it’s been shown women participated also.
“Nah we’re good. Heh.”
there is nothing wrong with his mentality - customers aren’t interested in internal problems of a company that are interfering with the services they pay for. You might get away with that excuse for a month or two but after that fix it and shut up.
This isn’t the defense you think it is. xD
Customers should be concerned about internal problems in a company, because employees are people, too.
So women get a free pass and did nothing wrong?
Wrong is wrong.
Oh lemmie guess they were coerced by the evil white person
Also, did you know that the primary subject offender in this case was of Iranian heritage? Did you know? Or does he also get dumped into the “white dude” category? Honest question. I do find it interesting that he would be referred to as “brown”, were the circumstances different. We like to classify people according to convenience to suit our narrative and we REeaaally need to stop and just be honest. That is, if we want real conversations about change.
You’re really good at just making stuff up. I’m not going to get dragged into a completely unrelated - and totally pointless - debate with you, so I’m just going to say: whether or not some women participated in the drunk culture does not negate the fact that Blizzard had a sexist, party-focused culture that left a few dedicated employees to pick up the slack.
Translation: I refuse to belive it happened and will continue to blame white men
You’re the only one who has used the term “white dude”, my dude.
and I am a person too - part of the group that is ultimately responsible for them having jobs. I am not going to keep paying so they can sit around and complain about things, especially when I am very very doubtful there is even an issue. And the reason I say that is because you don’t take a company that was rated highly by employees in 2019 in independent surveys and all of a sudden it becomes crap in 2021 with no real changes.
Far too many people just like to jump on a bandwagon.
I would love to see your source on that.
Let’s be clear on this. We are not paying for people to be employed, period, ever. We are paying for a product. That is the heart of this whole discussion. While issues are being addressed, productivity has to continue. They are not mutually exclusive.
No there wouldn’t be any point to having a discussion with you.
