but why add housing then? at that point it’s just garrisons except you get to see your friends/guilds houses. i knew it’d be instances but the point still stands it ruins the fun

Instance doesn’t mean you can’t see other peoples homes. You just need an invite.
They even touched base on Neighborhoods.
But if your expectations was to fly around and see peoples home out in the actual world, that is a delusion on your part.
Garrisons had virtually no customization.
People wanted customization.
Thus housing.

This reminds me of Pax Dei. People literally building houses on rare spawn nodes. Or building tons of houses in a clan to prevent people to getting to certain spots. Super fun times!

In order to render every player’s house visible on its own separate plot of land you’d need to tear down half a dozen zones at least. We’re talking 10000+ houses for a busy server (and that’s a random guess, for all I know it could be quadruple that), and they might not be those tiny little one room buildings we see in Elwynn. Imagine a house the size of an inn?

yeah, same as garrisons. you can invite other players to join your garrison when in a party and then they select “view leader’s garrison” from the drop-down menu.
