out of the idk how many years i’ve played WoW i’ve finally tamed my very first spirit beast. one of the 3 that i wanted.
the bear one. surprised it was even up say it has a 12 hour timer. tried for loq but wasn’t up. i think this is the only 2nd one in my life that i’ve ever seen up the first one was the porcupine in Kun lai. i tried to kill it once and died XD
Congrats! Surumar has cool mana beast spirit beasts available anytime just fyi. Those wotlk rares I believe can only have 4 rares up at a time so those are annoying to find.

If you go to Wrath while leveling in chromie time, you’ll have a much better chance at finding the elusive Wrath spirit beasts.
Found Loque’Nahak on my Hunter alt while not even looking for him.

Oh I already leveled a bunch of hunters. Sadly that is not an option for me lol. Unless I group up with someone doing chromie time I think.

Literally up in a tree. Ban’thalos had me up in that tree for hours. Well…I’d log in for 30 minutes to see if he showed up. log. come back hours later.
worth it though. I like that dead spirit owl pet.
Aw lucky. I’ve always wanted the bear on my alts. I think I have the spirit moose on one of my hunters.

Oh I liked making hunters to collect pets and match mogs! It was fun. I had a blood elf hunter to be like a dark ranger, but blizzard is taking forever for dark ranger stuff so I finally switched her to Nightborne. I had a troll hunter when I first started, made him Zandalari and I love collecting dinosaurs on him. Then I made the undead hunter in hopes of dark ranger customization for undead. I am glad they finally made undead pets a thing, I am just waiting for slimes to be pets! Would match my undead survival hunter, I imagine he is grumpy and loves to lob bombs like Junkrat. Then I made a highmountain hunter for the heritage armor (they had such low classes to pick from, I wanted to try out priest/paladin/warlock on them but no dice, so did the SV hunter again on that). On alliance I had a dranei hunter because I love the crossbow animation.
Try looking for rare pets with Warmode on, I swear i have been soo lucky i got Loq 2 times and the spirit bear all within 3 weeks.
Spirit Beasts are rare creatures that are tame-able by hunters of the Beast Master specialization. They are unique from other hunter companions in that they have special abilities…in particular, a healing ability that the hunter can direct the beast use on anyone.
One of the talents available to BM hunters is having a second companion. In my case, I have been fortunate to tame quite a few spirit beasts, and the two I choose to travel with me are both of the famed worg brothers Hati and Skoll.
They are my very good boys, yes they are! gives ear scritches…

I bet it was a pain. I tried to capture that one in Pandaria, the porcupine looking thing in Jade forest.
After getting rekt a few times, I went and read up on how to do it, saw what all was involved, and noped right out.
My hunters are alts who hardly ever get played so to me, it wasn’t worth the hassle.
but I get where someone would want them, they are cool.
Or heal themselves. Also decently tanky and dps’y. Pets were more normalized but that heal keeps up better and they feel better to me.
while there is no “Best pet” for a hunter (I’d post link to one of the the famed videos on this but i have been bad boy 2 times in one month lol)…spirits to me would be the top choice as “best pet” if it existed.

Indeed, since spirit beasts are Tenacity pets, no matter the type of animal they represent…so they are always ‘tanky’. If a hunter plans to min/max for raids and mythics, they should probably find a Ferocity pet to switch out to for those…but really, the spirit beast does pretty darn good dps.
Being an RP’r myself, I stick to the Hati and Skoll pairing, and have made it canon for my character that my companions are younger brothers of those two legendary worgs (with different names…Lynak and Torden).
All hunter pets now do the same dps I believe, it’s just the perk you want to use. Spirit beasts are nice because they give hunters a healing spell for allies. But the tenacity health buff is really minor in comparison to passive leech healing or speed buff in group content.
I’d recommend Pandaria Chromie time in war mode tbh. Got Loque and Krush on my 1st lap for 3 hunters this way.
With Wrath time you have more traffic in Wrath zones.
