Title really. My old mouse pad is just falling apart after so long. What would you guys recommend?
How about playmats? Would those work alright? Cuz I’m thinking of buying one but I’m not sure how great they are for gaming.

umm Look for a mouse pad that has a wrist rest, it makes me play much better than without one.
I have a fairly flexible one via Razer. Works pretty well with the mouse I have. Had a less flexible logitech one before which eventually got ‘skinned’ out due to friction I assume in certain spots.
Not sure on your price point.
Edit: The wrist rest is something to consider. Mine didn’t have one. I ended up buying a basically wrist-shaped one that moves as you move your arm, as opposed to a gel pad or something that limits where your arm can exist.
If you have or do suffer from numbness in your pinky/ring finger, or your pointer/thumb… You’ve got some ergonomics concerns, plus perhaps a physician visit in your future. Carpal or Cubital, at least if your ‘sensations’ are anything like what I’ve had.
Playmats work really nice. Also look realy cool if they match your setup. Used a couple of them for quite a while. Now I use an RGB desk mat. A little bigger than a playmat, and comes with pretty lights.
This is my favorite. If it gets dirty, I just use a little rubbing alcohol on it. Had it for years.
I have never tried a playmat.
Noted.
Well the one I’m eyeballing is around 24 x 14 inches and its 30 bucks.
Given how you treated me in the past I’m not really receptive to whatever you have to say
Honestly, check your mouse and make sure what kind of ‘laser’ it has, unless it has a different way of reading movement. Take that into account when buying a mousepad and make sure it has a wrist pad. Nothing to really suggest honestly.
Its a uh. Hold on. ill edit this
Update: A steel series rival 3
From what I can gather, isn’t a strong sensor, so as long there’s no reflective surface, so any mousepad will do just fine. Guess I am not much help other than finding one with a wrist pad. I always bought cheap ones personally and haven’t changed it yet, though certainly could use a much cleaner one given its age and crud that built up on it over the 6-7 years.
Mine’s 14" by 11". So yours is significant larger, and that’s not really a problem if that’s a comfortable price and style for you. From my perspective, I don’t have a reason to want anything larger, but everyone’s gaming setup is going to be different.
Give the wrist situation some consideration. I’m a software developer, so I spend far too much time typing for work, and then gaming after that. Yours may not be as (or even at all) significant, but… ounce of prevention vs a pound of care, etc. If you’re healthy now, do what you can to stay that way.
I get ya with the wrist thing. Got carpal tunnel. I understand. I got wrist braces for the flares.
My mentality is “Look this pad is falling apart at the edges. I’m also sick atm. So I wanna treat myself” lol
I went to etsy and bought a mario 2 themed mouse pad
Haha, fair enough. Nothing wrong with going fancy if you’re comfortable with it. It’s your setup, it’s your enjoyment (and, health), but that’s what matters. Just replaced my old speakers with a bluetooth set that can actually handle the concept of surround sound without needing to be plugged into anything but a power outlet. I sympathize with the whole mention of wanting to treat one’s self.
Gaming mats vs flexible mouse pads vs rigid mouse pads. There’s a decision to be made there. Personally, I picked up one of the BFA Azshara gaming mats from the blizzard store a bit before they decided to move to a company that charges $51 CDN to ship a $12 coffee mug to a city/province that can visit the US/CDN border after a 4 hour drive.
Gaming mats for me… They look good, but function less. My razer ‘flexible’ mouse pad has been pretty solid so far. The rigid logitech one I used before was solid as well, though it did eventually get worn down.
I keep trying bluetooth stuff and just don’t vibe with it.
And oh dear the shop did that? Man at least if I buy a playmat from where I’m looking, the money goes to helping fund the show its from.
I just use a Coolermaster desk sized mousepad, because I found a reasonable price on it. I like the clean look from having both my keyboard and mouse on the same pad.
There’s a Jaina Proudmoore mousepad from Aliexpress…. Great cushioning for your wrist…
We had a heated debate where I apologized. I can apologize again if you’d like. I am sorry for what happened. It was many many months ago. I was hoping we could move forward.
But please feel free to add me to ignore. I won’t bother you again. We were friends once. Or so I thought. I wish we could fix this. But I understand if you don’t want to and don’t want to make things worse. I wish you well.
Fabric mouse pads are the devil’s handiwork.
Logitech G440 Hard Gaming Mouse Pad, Optimized for Gaming Sensors, Low Surface Friction, Non-Slip Mouse Mat, Mac and PC Gaming Accessories, 340 x 280 x 5 mm https://a.co/d/1J1uAzk
I have this:

It’s fine.
I use to play OW a lot which is why it’s fairly large. lol
I mean… My cash from this mat probably went to at least some of blizzard. It’s just the current company, it’s unpleasant if you’re Canadian in terms of shipping costs.
