Most of the NPCs I used to really like have either been killed off (Varian, Cairne Bloodhoof), made way too prominent to the character’s detriment (Thrall), had the character completely ruined over the years (Sylvanas), or some combination thereof (Vol’Jin).
At this point, I would say my favorite characters are mostly villainous characters who had good arcs and didn’t get ruined, redeemed, or retconned. Arthas, Garrosh, Sire Denathrius ,and Edwin Van Cleef always come to mind as some of my favorites. I absolutely loved Garrosh’s appearance in the Sanctum raid, because even after being tortured he hasn’t lost any of his fire. There’s just something incredibly satisfying to me about a story about a great villain who does villainous things, but believes they’re right and refuses to back down no matter what.
