You’re still off base. People can complain about areas of the game and still love it.
That’s why we “complain” so much. We love the game. But we can also admit it could be better. That’s the part you’re missing.
WoW is not perfect. There’s horrible game design in almost every area of the game.
It’s only as unpleasant as you make it. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows there’s always something to give feedback on.
The notion that the fan base is never happy is gonna be true for any fan base… Because 2 people are gonna have different ideas on what makes the game good.
anyone out there who expects a consensus of positivity is being naive. What motivate somebody to post? If you’re enjoying the game you’re usually just gonna play it… If you don’t you’re going to look to vent. I mean the OP is an example. Technically it’s not positive. You’re right to an extent. Every game, movie, album, ms paint is going to have its fans and detractors. What i’ve noticed in my meanderings is that the wow fandom will criticize literally EVERYTHING. Is that rock grey? wow why did blizz make that rock grey, dont they know given the geologic history of pandaria that rock should actually be medium light gray? This is literally ruining my immersion blizzard!
Its infiltrated the fandom to the point that you can’t post a thread appreciating a piece of music because it triggers some fans ptsd about how the games music has been trash since cata. You can’t say anything positive about this game without it being a backhanded compliment because the brigade of “fans” who hate literally everything about this game will tell you how you’re literally killing the game.
Nothing wrong with stepping away for a bit when the negativity starts wearing on you.
It will. And that’s because people focus on different things.
I for one don’t give two rat dropping about story, but somebody else is going to care about every intricate detail.
Unlike music or art there are different things you can do in this game. Some people play it for very different reasons and won’t see eye to eye on what should be focused by the developers.
Ye you got a point. Not like this thread was gonna change anyones minds. They’ll ree about dragonflight, they’ll ree about the changes in dragonflight, they’ll ree about the next expansion, they’ll ree about the changes in that expansion, they’ll ree about the expansion after that, so on and so forth. So why spend mental energy trying to change their minds.
Sorry, but the “talent” trees stink! period, end of story! They are HORRIBLE! Yeah we asked for new talent trees, but NOT for “basic” talents we already have in our toolkit! All we watned was the power to use other spec talents (as we did in nilla and tbc) to fill out our kits, so we really did not have to switch specs!!
Just saying, they went WAYYYYYYY beyond that!!
I’ve noticed that. We seem to have a pretty powerful hate train going on, at least here on the forums. I’ve also noticed that threads asking for literally anything get aggressively heckled, and that people can get away with quite a bit of vile behavior without consequence.
Trouble with tolerating sufficiently bad behavior is that past a point it just drives the normal people away, and then all you’ve got left is well… y’know.

To be fair… as a whole we ask for a lot. Esoteric things that are met with disagreements.

It’s true, many players complain about many things, like if there’s always something wrong.
Just like Star Wars fans on the last trilogy, I have friends in their 40’s complaining about how bad the last 3 movies are, but then I told them that Disney bought the franchise and that should give them the cue that Star Wars targets kids first, adult not really but they will pay for their kids.
They would like a Star Wars movie which could give them everything that the franchise gave them when they were kids but their brain isn’t functioning the same way as it was, also mean that they will never see same way they did before.
Imo it’s pretty much the same thing with WoW, I think they like the game but would like to enjoy it as much as they did.
Star Wars Battlefront II came out in the year 2017, and everyone cried and complained. For a 5 year video game, the queue times for Supremacy & Blast are still like instant-1min long…WoW PvP queue times are atrocious comparatively.
So please don’t compare WoW to Star Wars.
Yes, I have been replacing WoW PvP with Star Wars because of the rating tied to gear. Crap move and it’s completely silly that Blizzard has done ZERO about it: Wait til next expansion…kek - completely copied its customer base (Always us saying “next expansion guys”; Blizzard obvious problem fix = “Next expansion guys”.
This is how I feel. I have no problem with people voicing valid criticisms because I have done that here as well. But the people that just post “This sux!” or “Blizzard hates players” is so negatively childish and so devoid of any actual thought process that I wonder how they make it through their day. You mentioned some of the posts talking about how dragonflight is going to suck. There is no possible way anyone can know that when the expansion isn’t even in alpha. Not a single one of their “gurus” that they lap up on youtube or twitch has had their hands on it to even know how it plays. But somehow, the all knowing negative nancies of the Hate WOW cult know. I pity them.
Can’t really win with any fan base to be honest.
Most video games have a core of people who love to hate the game they are playing. Those people tend to congregate in the forums.
Although they claim to speak for “the players”, they don’t. They are a small fraction of the player base and not at all representative of the players at large.
Best not to let them bother you. If you like the game, play it.

Sorry, not sorry, but we the player base will require 2 FULL GREAT expansions to win us over in totality again. There is no other way to shake off our concerning distrust.
