XP From Dungeons

I'm glad this thread is still kicking becaise I heard they further slowed the pace by making dungeon completion bonus once a week.
Nothing was broken, like many things but you hid it and seemed to add "fixes". We had a perfect balance of questing/dung xp options for many years.
Got 11 days on my sub now, I believe. It's not set to renew. I'm going to give them a week to unclog this toilet they're desperately trying to destroy, but if leveling dungeons don't give proper XP, if Legion invasions can't be used by anyone but 110s (at that point why bother doing them?), if any other nerfs to the leveling process come up... I'm done.

I might come back in a few months, but chances are low. I'm sure as hell not gonna level alts. And in the expansion where you're gonna have like... what, 8-10 Allied Races by the time all is said and done, I'm sure as hell not spending 70+ hours for each of them. And I'm doubly sure as hell not spending 60 bucks to boost even a single one.

Just make WoW F2P already, Blizzard. You're using F2P standards - ungodly slow leveling with a tempting but highly overpriced instant-max-level device at your hands - already, so why not just go whole hog? I dunno who was in charge of the changes, but they need to be fired. Throw 'em into a dumpster with all of their unnecessary changes that no one asked for.

I wish I could get a refund for BfA. I really do. This is why you never pre-order, kids. Let this be a lesson. I wasted 50 bucks on the expansion when I may never come back and play. I'll keep up with the forums after my sub runs out, though. If Blizzard stops being the Donald Trump of video game developers by screwing over everyone but themselves, then I'll come back and resume playing my characters. But if they keep going deeper and deeper into cartoonish supervillainy, why would I ever pay them 15 bucks a month again?

I like my characters. I enjoyed the time I spent with my characters in Legion, even if I disagreed with some of the stuff that happened during it. Now, I just don't even feel like logging in to reset talents. Why bother when I'm probably just going to let my sub lapse, y'know?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - to those of you who plan to soldier on: godspeed. I don't think you should. I think you should just let your sub die off like I'm doing. If there's a mass exodus, then maybe Mr. This-is-Fine will change his views. Doubtful, but a girl can hope.

Because somewhere, under this pile of misery we've been buried under for the last half a year, is the game I love. The game I started playing a week after my grandfather died as a way of distracting myself from how crappy I felt. A game that I've made a lot of friends by playing. I want to keep giving you money, Blizzard. But this is an abusive relationship and if I've learned anything in life, it's that sometimes you just have to put your foot down and walk away. A part of me will be sad. But it will ultimately make me happier to not watch something I loved wither away this hard.

Your passion hits me hard and is amazing. This game helped me with depression, anxiety and my alcohol addiction when no one else could because of growing up poor. Bad day at school/work? Come home and play some WoW,take my mind off it. But like you I don't even feel like logging in. I do a BG now and then but that's about it. Good fight, hope to see ya around sometime if they get this sorted. Definitely keep an eye out! And with that, its time for bed >.> fight on my champions! *cringe*

Agreed. This is Cata all over again. The sub drop will be brutal and that will force a dev flush.

One can only hope.

What this game truly needs, and has really needed for a long time now is a lead who is a game designer first and foremost.

Rather than one who is a lawyer first and a game designer a very, very, very, very, very distant second.

You can see it in everything that has happened from wod to now. From the weasel words, holiday weekend news drops for terrible decisions (like a greasy politician would do), to essentially fiddling while Rome burns.

Anyone else, in any other profession, would have lost their job a long time ago.

Same goes for a lot of "THE BIGGEST DEV TEAM EVER!" that has supposedly been "WORKING ON THE BIGGEST XPAC EVER!" since MoP.

I'm still waiting for it.

It definitely wasn't wod.

Once you stepped back from legion, you realized that although it had more content than wod, they disguised the barely more amount of content with a lot of smoke and mirrors...so legion doesn't count.

Is it bfa?

Not from anything I read in that forbes article, because they apparently are doubling down on everything they did in legion, including the mindless artifact...err, azurite grind system, that based on what we did in legion we'll more than likely "replace with some green" in the next xpac.

Great story, hoss.

People are still complaining about this? Put on some awesome music or play an audio boom. Pick your favorite zones. Skip annoying quests. Switch to something else when leveling gets annoying. Then cheer as you celebrate another max character.

No, some of us comb over the same *$%* quests over and over and the leveling dont change with scaling, it just the same beat up tree with more branches on it. I would like to skip BC and WoTLK all together and stay in the Vanilla/Cata zones till 80-100, it is way enough quests to skip expansions and pick my own path.

Why is we forced to move to the next expansion with scaling? Other games with scaling dont force you to move on because I &*^ dinged like level 63 and exp drops to nothing, you can drep in lower content all day. Dungeons helped me skipped those expansions that I hate leveling in or just speed up leveling overall.

I funny that people keep stating this is a MMO and solo play is so bad but is ok with nothing but quests leveling, which is solo game play. =P

Switch to what? We all dont pvp and all the pve options is being removed.
Not any single change to XP or Dungeon leveling was crippling, but collectively

Changes in 7.3.5
    * Scaling
    * Increased Health for Mobs
    * Increased Damage from Mobs
    * Loss of XP Pots
    * Reduction in Heirloom stats
    * Reduction in Heirloom XP Bonus (if you had them all it was 55%, now capped at 50%)
    * Reduction in RAF from 300% to 50%
    * No longer stacking XP Bonus (hard capped at 50%)
    * Reduced Dungeon Mob XP if being power leveled
    * Reduced Dungeon Bonus XP for completion if being power leveled

NOW
    * NO Dungeon Bonus at all if power leveled
    * Random Dungeon Finder XP Only once per week CORRECTED - Typo in Game - only applies to Gold
    * Stat Squish
    * Global Cool Down Changes
    * Tank Threat Nerf
    * Reduced XP from Trash in Karazhan
    * Leveling 100-110
      - Invasions no longer scale below 110 FIXED as of 7/19
      - They removed XP from most treasures in Legion a long time ago
      - Loss of artifact traits

And probably a few other nuggets we haven't found yet

Collectively - thats a pretty large hit to leveling. I can agree to disagree with people who say they like the new leveling because there shouldn't be a single right way to do anything (we should have choice). And maybe it only takes 60 hours to level to 110 for some (not me, its longer) and maybe that is ok for you (not me).

But it is undeniable that leveling would be faster without all of these changes. And if you didn't want to level fast before these changes - you could chose to:
    - Take off your heirlooms
    - Not use XP Pots or RAF
    - Turn off XP gains to avoid out-leveling a zone

Now - the choice has been made for you ......

And that choice is to unsub if your choice (faster leveling) was removed.

Wow...When you see it all broken out like this, it makes quite the argument. I agree that it wasn't just one change, but all these changes collectively that have crippled the leveling experience. Level scaling was fun for me, but there is clearly a problem now when you consider all the other tweeks that were made.

I doubt Blizzard has sat down and reflected on how each of the changes listed above have affected leveling. I wish they would take another look at it, and realize they need to do something to compensate what all the changes together have done to leveling.

...

It's not per week. Quit yelling like the world is ending. Go in game and see for yourself.

Make an alt and go to the dungeon finder and see how often it says you can get the reward.

Dont run your mouth unless you know what youre talking about.

Instead of !@#$%ing at people, why don't you get off your ^-* and check for yourself. He is right, the "one per week" thing is a typo. You actually get the reward everytime you do it, once you have done it once the reward STILL shows. And you can get it over and over and over.

I would bet they have looked at them all. They are a metrics driven company, and really aren't looking at what we say here, but rather what we do in game.

If we complain here, but keep playing, we are either inconsistent, or perhaps being more emotional in our venting (and that is not intended as an attack, but rather an observation).
This thread has aged spectacularly

We complain because we're trying to get them to improve the game. But if it is as you say and they won't listen to us until they take hits to profits.. well.
anyone want to bet gold that the Q&A today covers exactlly nothing about lefeling nerf.

time gated pathfinder

unfinished / messed up classes

Broken pre patch launch

Not even a tough, get used to it statement or a sorry we messed up might take a bit but we will give customers what they want, not what we want.

Wanna bet nothing but dog n pony show and no substance there?

Of course not, it'll be the same cherry picked questions asked every Q&A, anything to avoid Blizzard answering for any of the actual problems they have created.
I wonder if significantly longer leveling will attract or thrill new players? Personally, as a new player I enjoyed the leveling environment that was offered prepatch and I'm a bit jealous of the people who joined earlier. xD

8. but, you can ride a ground mount at 20.
actually with enough heirlooms, you can ride at lv 1
It was no picnic, It was slow ad tedious but you had many people to group with, Think about it, Over 10 million members and only 60 levels, Plenty of people around to group with, Now all we have are ghost towns, Group quests I had to abandon on my level 87 Void Elf Warlock.
Now most players are in the end game content and it's easy to group with because they're all at end game, only 5.6 million at last count I read and most at end game not to mention it's 120 levels spread all over the place now and not 60 and grouped closer.
Just sad that it's more about slowing players down to earn more time in subscription time and for the ones that want pay $60.00 for a boost.
Well look at that, We have had this topic going for over a month now, they asked for feedback and by far the most feedback they got in this thread was that Dungeon XP was too low.

You want to see clearly how blizzard feels about feedback just look at it now, more leveling nerfs and NO xp at all if you are boosting an alt up. Enjoy buying those boost.

That's true, but new players do not have them, so 20 it is.
Next update they will introduce the need to buy your spells and skills.

Calling it now.
