So recently I saw the whole confrontation between Xera and Illidian. Illidian is a person who is all about sacrificing everything, yet he couldn’t have the decency to sacrifice is freedom for Xera to give him the power to basically solo Sargeras? Illidian is no innocent guy. He has genuinely taken a dark turn to full on joining the legion at one point and killing many innocent people. Now if he had left Xera empower him then Sargeras would have been delt with in much less time and leading to less innocent lives lost.

He didn’t want to be forced into something against his will. All the sacrifices he made were his own choices, this wasn’t. She tried to force it on him despite him refusing multiple times. He fought back, she was shattered.

The issue with Xera was that she was wanting to force Illidan to be something he wasn’t and didn’t want to be, and in my opinion she was wrong.

If Xe’ra could imbue someone with the power to “solo Sargeras”, she could have just dealt with Sargeras herself.
That’s not what this was. This was her believing in a prophecy / destiny and being unyielding in that belief to the point of trying to force others to fall in line with it.

Remember. Illidian was a prisoner that was locked away for a very good reason. He basically gave up his right to freedom of choice at this point.

No matter what your opinion is, it’s Illidans choice what he sacrifices. Xera is no better than the voidlords by trying to force the light on Illidan.

The very first moment I met Xera I wanted to see her get blown up by Illidaddy’s eye beam; I just didn’t know it yet.
Hes a prisoner that was only let out to help fight the legion. It would be like letting a murderor out to fight an ongoing war. They have to do what they are told.
Illidan went down the path of sacrificing his freedom already…to Sargeras.
He wasn’t about to let that same mistake happen again.

Forcing someone against their will IS ALWAYS WRONG. No means no. Xera didn’t get that, so he killed her.

Even if that was accurate it wasn’t Xera or the light who freed him. It was Khadgar and the champions of the Horde/Alliance. He doesn’t owe Xera or the light anything.

Honestly, I think most of if not all of the higher deities don’t really care about mortals at all.
Xe’ra wants to end the legion and she needs the mortal races to do it, our goals align so we work with her. That being said she’d just turn around and force us all into submission, willingly or not.
I believe the mortal races have many different paths to take in regard to destiny, Xe’ra has her own one track mind of how destiny must play for her, so she says that lightforging illidan is something that must come to pass but after we kill her and defeat sargeras she’s proven wrong.
I think what’s best is for the mortal races to carve a destiny for ourselves, like Illidan said “There can be no chosen one, only we can save ourselves.”

But you are forgetting that the horde/alliance and kadgar brought him to the Xera so that Xera could help improve him. They wanted him to take Xera’s advice.
Taking Xeras advice and giving his freedom to her are two very different things

We also learned that what happened in BC was a misunderstanding (retcon really) so he was falsly imprisoned

Unless they are a murderous prison that was only released for a very specific purpose and they have to do what are told or be sent back to the same place they previously were.
Then why didn’t they send him back if he didn’t do what he was told?
