For the many years I have played this game, it makes me happy to see so many people trying to get controllers working for this game when it is more than able to at some point. However as most know WoW’s biggest issue with controllers is trying to set up something more universal for all players to get used to. This has always been the challenge others ask and also a lot of people don’t bother to fix or change far too much. I also think it’s not talked about very much when it comes to the details of it. Just saying “ah yuh that’s gonna be cool!” only goes so far. I went into a deep dive of my own on a lot of extra spare time to see what I could do myself.
Personally I am not a fan of the addon ConsolePort at all when it comes to targeting for NPC/Players for Tank, Heals, DPS. Where as with WoW’s hidden controls you can pretty much set your Triggers as Keybinds to help with picking out a target much easier or at least as close as you could with your mouse over the nameplates or NPC. There are some flaws still that needs to be addressed for this. But I find it far easier to use then how ConsolePort uses it’s targeting to what you aim at, this seems to be more for long range DPS classes. I made far more mistakes with that then going on with this route. Also, for healers it would work far better to go “next player” in stead of “nearest player” in the group list, this way you can go from left to right in the party list. But I do not see anything in Keybinds for that. Yell at me like a angry cupcake if I have misted it tho. <3
There is also the issue of having not enough buttons on a controller as well. This I discovered a small fix to that as well. Xbox controllers as far as I know you can buy Keyboards for - which I have bought one for my own Pro Controller that has a wireless USB port to plug in. Sure, you could use Macros to slim down some of them, but I do not think all classes will be able to do that? I myself just prefer to have as many as I can get and still be very easy to move my thumb to that button by memory. I didn’t think of this until I recalled the xbox 360 having these kind of keyboards for their controllers so I had to see if they had it for the new gen and BAM in love all over again. I really did miss having one for a long while.

I love it, it lights up green - matches my RGB for my rig and K&M. Same color I set for the Xbox button.
I ran with this in a few Timewalking run and heroic dungeons. It’s pretty manageable. I had to set Self Target to R for a keybind however in order to heal myself. I so far do not recommended raiding just for the simple fact there’s just too many people if you are healing. DPS and Tanks tho? sure go for it. Sadly, I do not have a magic trick to make it to where you only target groups you have only showing in order to target but would be really nice if it had worked in such a way so you do not target people hidden in the raid frames. Example - You’re in group 1 but need to heal Group 1 and 3 only. One issue I am also having is getting the mouse to show up after hitting my leff middle menu button on the contoller. I did it before but after installing ConsloePort, playing with it before removing it, it refuses to come back and I have zero Idea how to keybind that back in there. Please let me know if you have any idea what that function/keybind is. I(f not might just do a clean wipe of the game and start over again.
I personally use a 18in Laptop with 4080 GPU so my display is rather large. So if this is too large or too small ya can always fix it up yourself anyways. I am unable to share an image because Blizzard is lame AF when it comes to sharing links and images.

Action Bar 6 on top of Action bars 2 and 3 for LB and RB Placements.
Actions Bar 2 for D-pad While Action Bar 3 is for A B X Y. [Ignore A because I use that for jumping around only] all used for main abilities you mostly use. While having the abilities look like the typical + shape. I also use the Middle buttons for Left and Right Thumbstick Press so I can cast things like Cauterizing Flame and Naturalize. [Cleanses]
[Keeping Buttons Hidden leaves things clean and no mess you might overlap.]
Action Bar 1 for 1-0 and I mainly use this for Buffs and other spells you don’t use so far often.
I’m still playing with a lot of tools and extras and later on trying to find more fixes and what have ya. Because the most info I have found online for this kind of thing doesn’t cover these type of things such as targeting and extra keybinds. Always happy to take in more info on the subject if you have anything! My only wish is that I kind of hope that one day some random dude will just take a Sega Saturn controller it and make that USB or something lol! The two extra buttons next to A and B would help a million! XD
