whenever anything is done to try and bring mage more in line with other specs Xar and Ven just cry and cry. “oh my poor mage cant 1v3 blizz this is so unfun” and then blizz does something about it. fun fact in all the raid testing so far all 3 mage specs are in the top 6. fire is the lowest of the 3 mage specs but they are still have 3 specs over everyone else in the game besides aff, destro, marks. Maybe there are cool trinkets that will be fun to play from a dungeon or maybe raid he has no clue what the gear is going to look like hes playing with a premade char and complaining about losing trinkets from last expansion. blows my mind and i like xar i was subbed to him for a while and watched him all the time when he streamed nights but he can miss me with all that bs in the video
Edit - “if i cant 1v2 im not having fun” alright then
I think it’s just more click bait. In another day or so he’s going to see the community’s perception and do a follow up video to where he backtracks half of his words while doubling down on the views people did agree with.
I just find people who pose for photo shoots on a near daily basis extremely vain and self centered.
I really liked his vids back when but as of this year/patch he’s getting a lot more difficult to follow. I don’t mind when he plays with Pikaboo though. I think that has more to do with Pikaboo being entertaining and making Xar not be so serious.
The concept is that claw requires set up to get value out of, and they’re not really wrong. Gushing not only requires no setup but literally no thought. It may as well just be empowered auto attack damage, there is no interaction between the player and gushing wounds. Claw requires set up to get value out of (healer needs to be stunned or kicked, DH needs to be covered) plus you have to ACTIVELY press the button.
Don’t get me wrong i’m not trying to defend the item it’s actually disgusting and needs to be gone from the game entirely but they have a point.
I agree with you here to some extend but I think a lot of us forget that just because mages are a disgusting god class and need to be nerfed, they also need to be PLAYABLE. There is a fine line there that blizzard has never quite found; I don’t think it’s fair for mages to be gutter tier because they need to be nerfed and I think that the design of the class is inherently frusrating to play against so there will never be a day when mages don’t fill disgusting.
To your point about mages and warlocks being atop the DPS charts in 9.0 raid; I’ve always felt like mages, locks, hunters and rogues should be a top every DPS meter. They are the pure bred DPS classes and as such, should be better at it than everyone else ( in a pve environment). So far thats what the meters are looking like in SL and thats fine.
The main issue with RM at the moment is the control on top of the tankiness and ridiculous burst damage. You can’t give classes all 3 and expect people to play your game.
pure dps shouldnt out dps hybrids thats horrible design even more now when a lot of pure dps are tankier and heal for as much or more than hybrids. they just cant heal other people
Yes exactly this happy when he gets the down goes xaryuki no block in 3seconds.
We’re giving him a hard time when most of us do prefer a fast pace 1shotty meta(as long as all specs get to play that way) but it’s real hard hiding that bfa firemage bias.
lets be real tho, mage or not, the game is way funner when a good player can 1v2 bad players (on all or most classes). this kinda requires that classes have a lot of tools and on demand burst dmg, it also makes dueling more fun too.
yeahhh thats the main thing i was confused that he didnt bring up too much in his video, arcane seems like it has all the tools in the world and the burst dmg, its definitely gonna be what im playing at least. its weird for him to use fire as his example bc i remember in legion when fire mage had phoenix flames, it was the least bursty of the specs, it had really good consistent pressure and u had combustion but nothing like how it is now. given the abilities SL is bringing back for fire i expect it to go back to a legion era style, the main thing he should be complaining about is i think bringing back frost mage to an early legion style where it was more than a slow bot, then each spec would have its own niche and from what i remember all 3 were super fun in legion but i liked arcane the most.
I think people are just mocking the “Claw is fun” because it sounds like it’s just pressing a trinket.
But it’s not, really. You clearly wait for the opportune time for you and your teammates to press Claw or you aren’t doing it right.
Yeah, it’s just a trinket, but it’s a testament to how people should put some thought into pressing their buttons.
As for the video though Xar is just comparing playing his class in the final patch of an expansion vs. playing the fresh expansion version. Of course it’s going to feel lame. It’s different, and some things are missing. Just wait until the last patch of Systemlands when we’re overloaded with power creep and “stuff” again.
rogue mage sap
first global mfd kidney
double claw automatically forces trinket wall
or healer trinket for literally nothing then they just accidentally win on blind
REALLY engaging
REALLY big set up
MASSIVE brain
SO much thought
I mean you’re being sarcastic but that is an actual setup.
No need to be snarky bro. Take it out on the devs, not me. I’m more saying that the game should be about timely pressing of buttons, not necessarily trinkets.
having a passive button that isn’t an actual cd commitment that’s more than strong enough to force major defensives is a massive massive design failure
but yeah sure if you don’t think about it and you squint your eyes real hard you can make the argument that maybe its a button that rewards thought and therefore is good for the game!
