The health it has is a bit too much, and it seems blizz has purposely timed it for the worst possible time on bosses. Like it comes out during times that are likely to wipe the group if they switch to it (during laser beams on gryphon, during the pull on phase 2 of last boss in Mechagon, during the drop phase on I’pa, etc.), or make it take much longer to kill bosses (during burn phase of final boss in Rookery, killing drops on I’pa, etc). It is purposely timed for these phases, doesn’t seem to come out during other phases.
And it follows tank, forcing melee to be in places they absolutely shouldn’t be at times that will kill them or times they need to do a specific mechanic (popping icicles on last boss in Rookery).

It dies easy enough from cleave damage. it doesn’t need to be focused down
Because you run 7s and 8s. Try 11s it gets a ton more health in 11s.

It’s the most annoying at critical phases during boss fights.

It’s on a global timer while the players are in combat. You can literally set your watch to it, it’s nothing to do with the specific encounter.

It’s a non-issue if everyone switches to it like they’re supposed to. It is a bit absurd, though, that it spawns right on top of the tank on the last boss of Rookery.

When it spawns with the flag in the Theater of Pain, it’s really annoying. Which one should I focus fire on first?

OOH is it my turn to pretend I didnt understand what that person meant by what he said and then smugly condescend to him on a level 10 alt?
Sit down.
I agree OP, the add LOVES to spawn when you’re dealing with 900 other things at once. But, hey that’s supposed to be engaging/fun/challenging content (insert smirk here)

I’m not entirely sure why this would be an issue. The tank can stand in the center to be in full range of the group with the healer and just shift slightly side to side based on where the center crystal spawns so as to not aim the frontal at it. Ranged on either side shouldn’t have any issue reaching in that position, though for melee it’s always going to feel terrible needing to run it down.
All those affixes are stupid. Having 10 orbs spawn in impossible places and then give the boss 99% damage reduction, is another perfect example. I’ve had them spawn on the opposite side of the first boss in rookery, or spawn 2x in a row at the last boss at the same player that had nothing to deal with them. Even had them spawn in the ToP PvP zone below the boss as everyone was being pulled back up.
The soak affix is also a non-issue until it spawns 2 seconds before the AoE zoning on the last boss in rookery and you can’t clear it because clearing it means you can’t do the circle on rock mechanic and wipe…
I’ve done a few +12 keys and they are so much more chill it’s unbelievable. The fact that higher keys are more fun and less complicated/frustrating is just weird. These affixes should just be removed. Any affixes they want to introduce should be static and pre-determined per dungeon, think shrouded.
All Xal’atath affixes they introduced suffer from the same overlap issues quaking had. You have to do both A and B at the same time, but doing one means you can’t do the other.

I have a macro to target it, use touch of death, and after that touch of death I just use Jade Empowerment Lightning to bring it’s shield down to about 30%. It’s the easiest affixes, followed closely by the cc affix.
During TOP pvp boss it always spawn just before the boss send 2 player down to pvp and we have to deal with the affix + flag with 2 man short. Bliz should freaking remove this dumb affix.

It dies easy enough in 10+ from cleave too. Don’t come at me with that crap. It is a crap affix, I’m not gonna argue with that, but stop acting like it’s gotta be focused over more dangerous mobs.
It doesn’t necessarily die from cleave in 10 at the current gear, in my experience. It should absolutely be focused down. Those more dangerous mobs are even worse with reduced damage taken and a boost to damage done.
People like you insisting that they can be cleaved is why I’ve seen a number of them buffing mobs all week.

I can’t wait til I get to 12s since no more affixes. This thing always spawns at the worst time.

The emissary dies really fast if everyone actually switches targets.
People like me? Don’t discount what I’ve seen happening. It’s all relative, and they can absolutely die from cleave without needing to be focused.
Nobody said they couldn’t. But you firmly stated that they die easily from cleave and don’t need to be focused. You were told that wasn’t necessarily true at higher keys than you had done when you first made the statement. You doubled down and insisted again that even at that level they don’t need to be focused. You’re the one making absolute declarative statements and getting huffy about being told you’re not universally correct. To be clear, while they might die from cleave, they might not, and the risk/reward analysis says it is the wrong play to assume it will, and the right play to switch and focus it, to be certain.
You’re the one being dismissive of what other people have seen, so don’t play the victim here. But since you brought it up, I am actually going to discount what you claim to have seen. Are you tracking everyone else’s target in your group every time they spawn? Maybe you’re the only one not switching and better players in your groups are, in fact, focusing it down, and you’re assuming, while you tunnel your target, that it died to cleave. How do you think you would be able to tell the difference?

I said it dies easily “enough” from cleave damage. This is at a keystone 10. I’ve seen this in all 7/9 of the 10s i’ve timed this week and all the ones that have failed to time. A 11 isn’t going to change that much, and it goes away at 12.
It’s not hard to determine if it’s being focused. Just look at the health bar speed of depletion. The thing isn’t a damn mini.
I’m dismissing no one. The person made a claim with anecdotal experience and I countered it with anecdotal experience.
