Xal'atath: The best villain in modern WoW?

I think she is without a doubt the best villain in modern WoW.

  • She has a cool design.

  • She has cool lore/backstory.

  • She has an entertaining personality and a very interesting dynamic with the main hero, Alleria.

  • She actually suffers setbacks and losses, like the heroes. I really like this aspect of her character. She’s not some insufferable “akshually this was all part of my plan” know-it-all like Suevanas and the Jailer. Events happen that cause her plans to unravel and things to spiral out of control. She began the expansion in a position of power, but underestimated Alleria who damaged the Dark Heart, which seriously hindered Xal’atath plans and forced her to rely on a clumsy fool like Gallywix. She’s not in control of everything, she makes mistakes, and that makes her a grounded villain.

  • She’s the Jailer but done right. She’s behind some events of the past but they are regional stuff like Grim Batol and the War of Three Hammers instead of Cosmic stuff.

  • She’s a frightening villain. She destroyed Dalaran casually. She is very, very ancient. And her last line to Alleria was chilling. Just chilling.

I am more than happy that Xal’atath will be the overarching antagonist of the entire Worldsoul Saga. So far, she’s been written wonderfully.

Haven’t been able to look beyond the ankles so couldn’t tell you personally

I kind of think the old queen of the spider people was. She let half her race die in northrend from cowardice and basically let her people wither away.

A chilling lesson that refusing to act is in itself an action.

Ironic that Garrosh was not your first choice. The war crimes alone performed by him against his own people and others makes Xal’atath look like a mean girl in a Disney movie. If you’ve never actually seen his entire list of war crimes, I would highly recommend googling it because I can’t even type out half of the things he did on this site because it violates the TOS.

It’s the feet, isn’t it?

Be honest.

MoP was 12 years ago. That hardly counts as “modern WoW.” In fact, it’s literally “Classic WoW.”

Yes, you are that old.

I’m older than you think. In fact, I came to this game in January 2006. I would celebrate my 32nd birthday just a few months later. So I get a big chuckle to myself when somebody says I started playing this when I was a kid lol. Like I was probably playing this when your parents were still kids. :dracthyr_hehe_animated: as for our newest villain, I honestly don’t think she’s that great. I predicted what she was going to do months ago and then everybody was shocked when it happened days ago. Predictable villains are boring.

Lol. I didn’t mean to say you’re 12 years old. I meant to say that MoP is 12 years old. I wanted to make you feel old, because an expansion that feels “modern” like MoP is actually 12 years old.

You are indeed old, as you yourself acknowledged.

I like her more than Alleria if that counts for anything.

No don’t worry about that lol I knew exactly what you meant. I just meant that sometimes I sit and listen to some of these kids complain about things that they are just absolutely crashing out over and I’m thinking to myself, man if you only knew what it was like to have a mortgage, a car payment, kids and grandkids, a wife who’s wow experience is more expensive than yours lol Something as dumb as not getting Evokers in remix would be an absolute treat to worry about :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Does she though? Xal seemed pretty confident throughout K’Aresh despite the ‘setback’. In fact, she seemed extremely pleased the moment we showed up.

She is the Jailer… but female, and with toes instead of nips.

Wait, what? To who? Her actual allies? She left Gallywix and Ansurek to die so she can flirt with Karen of the Elves.

Xal’atath has been fleshed out a little more and she’s growing on me. I think once her arc is done and over with, she will be remembered fondly. That and her feet ofc.

I like her. She’s different from the “conventional” villain who’s just evil, like “hahaha I’m going to destroy the world because I’m evil.”

She’s snarky, sassy, villainous, and most importantly (for me): mysterious.

She’s interesting and has potential. We’ll see.

(I liked alot Iridikron also, but he’s MIA so far, so no much to say about him yet)

Yea Zovaal 2 is super good

It took a while but I think spending time with her in Ka’resh made her a bit more endearing. Yeah, betrayal is inevitable, but we got to see a bit more of her personality.

She seems fairly 1 dimensional. Always playing enemies against each other because Lotus Walker and company insist there is no other way

Yeah it’s the same scheme since shadowlands, someone has a plan that was part of someone else’s plan and so on and so on. I guarantee the next thing in midnight is going to be “Xalatath becomes a void lord!!!” “What will the heroes of azeroth do?!”. In which it will be the same thing of some invented McGuffin item will be suddenly discovered or created that solves everything until it segways into the next grand plan that someone is going to claim they were running the entire time.

I’m more curious to see what happens in the last titan, but that already reads as the titans were always the villain.

More than likely gonna be corrupted by void as his ultimate spite against the Titans. Then get slapped down by us heroes.

We have already a cape, an electric belt and a siren ring. What horcrux do we need to vanquish Giant Toe Monster in Midnight?

Nah, what will happen is that some character will develop this obscure ability that negates Xal’atath’s instant-death mechanic, but said character is untrustworthy, yet we blindly accept their help because ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ despite absolutely no one follows that rule to the letter.

And it will be hailed as brilliant writing.
