Xal’atath grand scheme requires the creation of a Horcrux of Each Old God. She has two Horcruxes already

Whatever Xal’atath is planning to do as part of her grand scheme a key component she requires is a sample of essence from each of the Old Gods. She already has acquired two of the essences she needs. In both these cases she has manipulated and used someone else to acquire it on her behalf either using a form of manipulation, coercion or trickery on them to have them perform an action they believe is doing something else. In each case this unwitting pawn is used to capture the sample of essence she desires within an object she has given them to use in a specific way. In each case an item or object is being used that likely becomes some kind of Old God Horcrux

The first essence she acquired was N’Zoth and the object in which this has been stored is The Blade of the Black Empire. She manipulated and coerced Wrathion in to stabbing N’Zoth with the Blade which initiated a reaction which drew his essence inside the blade trapping it. So the Blade of the Black Empire is N’Zoth’s Horcrux

The second essence she acquired was Yogg-Saron as a result of the events that transpired within the Dawn of the Infinite Dungeon. She manipulated or coerced Iridkron into using that Dragon Soul type device on Galakrond, the dark essence that it was siphoning out was Yogg-Saron’s as it was the source that caused Galakrond’s corruption. Making the Dark Dragon Soul obviously Yogg-Saron’s Horcrux

The third essence which she hasn’t acquired yet but will happen as part events in the next expansion ‘The War Within’. The essence that she is going after in this expansion will be obviously that of Y’Shaarj. Why? We know she is working with the Nerubians to gather dark blood that stains parts of the zones in the expansion. These zones are all essentially deep inside Azeroth below Pandaria whose lands had been corrupted for a very long time by Y’Shaarj’s heart. This heart had dark blood seep out as part of that corruption process. This blood would have also seeped deep within Azeroth over time and the location where it is most concentrated is that of the Nerubians who she is manipulating and coercing to gather it for her.
This leads to the question of who is the unwitting pawn she will use? and what is the object that will become the vessel use by her pawn to create Y’Shaarj’s Horcrux

The fourth essence and final one that she will seek to acquire IMHO is going one that is a byproduct of us trying to deal with a long standing issue that remains ‘That Sword in Sithilus’. This will be what allows Xal’atath the ability to access an aspect of C’thun that she can use to acquire the essence needed to make the Horcrux. Uldum/Sithilis is already mentioned as a key location that events are going to take place as part of the World Soul Saga. This correlates as she will likely have to go to a location that is either within or around Uldum as it was Sithilus that C’Thun was located
There will be something that is linked with C’thun that she will be able to use to acquire his essence, creating the final Horcrux. Along with that other Elephant in the room that is located in Sithilus - Sargaros’s Sword. The sword IMHO will play a part in all of this and how Xal’atath gets C’thun’s essence is more likely linked to the future story arc that is related to how we deal with that sword. What effects will the process we utilise to deal with it have and the likelihood that this is what provides Xal’atath with the ability to achieve her aim

Obviously we don’t know where this will fully take place, nor do we know what will be the source from which she acquires the essence of C’thun. Additionally we also don’t know what the object vessel will be that will become the Horcrux and finally who will be the pawn she will use to make it for her.

So ask yourself - What will Xal’atath do when she has all four Horcrux’s and why are they a key component of her grand plan?
We know that Blizzard has taken some aspect from Harry Potter Books as a form of inspiration because it was mentioned in an interview at some point. That inspiration and concept idea they took was that of a Horcrux it all makes sense now

If Xal’atath was really created from an Old God that didn’t survive the initially arrival on Azeroth or whatever her lore was, perhaps she’s going to use them to restore her true self in some form?

“A dark heart left broken, free for the taking” is Y’shaarj’s heart which was locked back under Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

The Exploring Kalimdor book made a point to say that after the War of the Sands and the defeat of C’thun one of his eyes was gifted to Saurfang as a thank you to the Horde for it’s help in defeating the Old Gods. After Saurfang’s death, this eye went missing.

Yes, I do think Xal’atath is either going to ressurect Y’Shaarj with the powers of his siblings or she’s going to absorb them and become a Super Old God with the powers of all her brothers.

Actually that explains everything and puts the final piece in place. I can’t help but think of the connection between Saurfang and Sargaros. Both of them are linked to an Eye in some way and both suffered a terrible betrayal at the hands former allies.

Saurfang receiving C’thun’s eye in Sithilus at the conclusion of the War of the Sands. Then it was Sylvanus who was the instigator that Saurfang suffered a terrible fate when she acted dishonorably during the Mak’gora.

Sargaros is linked to an Eye as it is embedded at the centre of the hilt guard of his sword. The same exact sword that he plunges in to Azeroth in the same location that Saurfang came in to possession of his eye. This final action for Sargaros was happening as he was being betrayed by the rest of the Titan Pantheon so they could do what whatever they wanted with him.

So we have a warrior who takes an eye of C’thun that was acquired in Sithilus out of that area and dies because of the betrayal of someone they once called an allie. We then have another warrior (warrior titan) manages to return an eye back to Sithilus as part of his sword and suffers what might be seen like death to a titan through the betrayal of his former allies.

Essentially this An Eye for an Eye…

Agreed. Considering that the only thing in WoW that has ever being referred to as a “dark heart” has been The Heart of Y’shaarj. Aka, the Dark Heart of Pandaria. Also iirc, Y’shaarj’s heart is still present after Garroshs defeat but not when Horde players go back down there during the Mag’har recruitment chain. The fading breath, that I am sure someone will point out is made from Xal’atoh, the Gorehowl copy.

There is a reason why Blizzard referred to Xal’atath as the ‘Harbringer’ during Blizzcon. Knowing full well that us lore nerds will connect the dots to the ‘Harbringer’ the Naga on the Forbidden Reach were referring to. The one that Azshara has been hanging out with. And I feel the ‘Dark heart’ is for a similar reason.

I posted on Twitter, “Maybe Xal’atath is K’ara” semi-jokingly but what if. The Sunwell was able to take a material body in Anveena Teague.

Didn’t Korialstrasz do that though? Like he found out that a lingering essence of the sunwell was still present after Kael’thas destroyed it (following the scourge invasion) and turned it into flesh as a way to hide it from Arthas?

I don’t know, I have only one of the dragon comics it’s really hard to find older WoW lore books and comics outside of the US. You are running on the assumption everyone has access to all WoW lore. I did not know that, maybe that changes things.

That would be extremely awkward and difficult.

Xal’atath has a history dating well before the Dark Portal opened, and K’ara was very much on Draenor before the Dark Portal blew up Draenor.

He turned the lingering essence into an illusion so the legion/the scourge wouldn’t find the last bit of energy of the Sunwell.

Don’t think anyone expected the illusion to become sentient though

Yogg-saron was able to take a human form through possessing corpses. That’s pretty much exactly what Xal’atath did.

Am I going to have to pull a magic sword forged by goblins out of a Dalaran Wizard’s hat to defeat Xal’atath?

Because that is what I am feeling, here.

Forged by goblins? You might want to keep the receipt.

Ugh, gag me. Please don’t corrupt the lore with the language of the Queen T*RF, get that garbo outta here.

Am I? I don’t have the Sunwell trilogy manga either. I just looked up what it said on the wiki. Which references said manga.

Sure you can just substitute it with - phylactery or phylacteries when it’s plural.

The only reason I was actually using it in the first place was the point of linking it back to the it being that concept that Blizzard liked from that books and used as a basis for some of their concept etc. That’s all.

I just really want to know what the hell Xal’atath is! I mean she makes comments about the other Old Gods being her brethren. It’s mentioned they betrayed her and sealed her away. She somehow knows Elune?? Cause she calls her an “upstart” goddess, implying that Xal’atath was around before her and Elune is a “new” goddess.

So what the heck is she??

I never liked Harry Potter. Lucky for me I never cared what that lady said or wrote. But it does make me laugh that she inspires revulsion.
