Hello, im a nobody on the internet, and im here to express my OPINION.
(I know scary.)
I don’t really enjoy using forums, however since the release of SOD i have found myself pulling up the forums either when im not doing anything in SOD or anything else. I’ve decided today to make a post because I see a pattern happening that frankly gives me a headache when I go through many of the popular topics in the SOD forum.
To give a stance on SOD so far i do enjoy it, im a sucker for classic era and to see new things happening in said era its been very enjoyable. I do however see the cracks in the experimental system they have here developed, and am pleased that they seem to be making adjustments according to said issues regularly. Also my main is Pally, ret and prot to be specific.( I’m aware plenty have already started typing a horrible response already because of my class choice.)
So now that’s settled id like to get to what i mean by pattern. Over the last week on the forums Ive seen constant threads covering topics such as, “penance broken” “Avengers shield broken” “druid thing is broken” “warrior thing is broken” and so on and so forth. People demand nerfs, other people defend the construct of the ability’s and how they function with current game mechanics, and others claim it’ll be nerfed immediately.(I do not know how they are making this claim but hey, they do them.)
Here is were i get very confused. Said people make these claims. (Sometimes the same people over and over.) And of course they demand the nerfs to PVP related situations, and i do not feel they are taking into account how demanding for these nerfs for PVP situations modify and maybe ruin their interactions for PVE. Now as someone who does enjoy a good ole fisticuff here and there, but also does plenty of raiding/dungeons/questing, i see this being catastrophic for either side when demanding for changes to ability’s. (Hunters idk whats going on with your class, i wish you luck and hopefully yall get to enjoy next phase.)
That takes me to my next point. We are in only phase one, at 25, and have no idea where the devs are taking this boat ride. Many will claim this, that, those over there, and that thing here. But in reality we are in the dark and do not know what to look forward to. SO, why are we demanding changes now that we do not know how it will affect the future? I can understand the argument, “cause we are paying to play the game now and this is how it should be NOW”.
I also get a very strong feeling from some arguments i read that there are classic heads that do not very much like the idea that new classes are now going to be competing for certain spots in raid team, for example of course I very much look forward to finding a guild to hopefully be a main tank for and get thunder-fury for my pally. Nobody minds another healer spec but now there are dps specs that can now better compete for gear, and tank specs that can potentially have a rightful claim as a main tank.
Now am i saying changes right now are bad? Not at all, certain specs were very under-powered, and some specs do have some very strong abilities that are very effective. Very much so in this phase. But i feel like we should walk carefully on what should be adjusted from the current settings, due to how they can affect the later game. Of course changes can be reverted, but its something that should be kept in mind.
So sorry for typing such a long post, prolly wont make any responses as again i do not like making posts in forums. And for ffs, people need to just chill out lol. Thank you for reading my OPINION, if you did.
