Cat Daddy is the GOAT
heck yeah he is
Hope to meet the guy some day.
That would be very cool.
So earlier this week I impulse bought a Age of Sigmar Darkoath launch box at a LGS. The Darkoath for those not versed in Warhammer lore, are basically Humans left behind by Sigmar when he locked himself in Azyr. Humans who had to submit (or at least appease) the Ruinous Powers to survive. In modern times, they’re basically being displaced by Sigmar’s forces as they “reclaim” the realms.
And it ignited a creative streak in me like I thought had gone out.
Reading the Darkoath fluff, I adore some of their alternative names for the Chaos Gods, and this is spinning out into my own lore for it. “The Pale Elk” for Nurgle. “Ol’ Fire Eye” for Khorne (Represented by a Boar). “The Gilded Serpent” for Slaanesh. “Moon Eyed Crow” for Tzeentch.
My tribe were forsaken by all of them. The Darkoath Chieftain miniature comes with a cavalcade of heads to apply to the miniature. Trophies. I’m going a different way with them. My Darkoath Chieftain doesn’t have a name yet, but he does have a title - “The Stranger”. My Chieftain comes from outside the principle Darkoath tribe. Carrying the heads of his former tribe with him. They were betrayed by the gods, left defenseless as the Craven God (Sigmar) stole their lands and butchered them. But the Stranger got away with help from a god also neglected, also forgotten.
Grandfather Bat - the first Daemon Prince, Be’lakor. (Quick and dirty for those not versed in Warhammer lore, Be’lakor is a rival to the principle antagonist of the faction and has his whole own army rules - the Army of the First Prince)
A few years ago, I was looking at Age of Sigmar minis. OMGGGGG. I have probably about $2000 worth of minis, paint, cases, books, etc.
What I want to do is build a diorama. But I’ve found out a couple of things:
- My time is limited and they’re not enough priority for me to work through.
- I have no room for a diorama.
- Even if I did have room, I have pets.
But painting Night Haunts in greens and purples - oooooooh.
Cat Daddy is awesome. And I welcome suggestions. The Void, was about 6 weeks went we got her. We had 3 adult cats and a large great dane mix (160 pounds). Our snowshoe siamese adopted her as his protege, and the dog worshipped her. Sadly her first pet family is now all gone. Our other cat is a more recent addition and was about 4 months old when we got her. They got along fine then - for a couple of months. Until she reached “maturity”. The fault is ours. We had not had The Void fixed, because she is inside only and everyone else was fixed. We got her fixed shortly after the first incident. But the damage was done. The Void is HIGHLY territorial. Freyja, the other cat, is not. She is very chill. Each one has has their “territory” in the house. Freyja stays as away from The Void. Recently, the Void has decided to take over everything. Though recently, we have managed to have them both in the same room without The Void attacking. Freyja is more my cat, and the Void is my husband’s daughter. We just moved a few months ago, so we are hoping they starting to settle down.
This is what it’s like for me when people start geeking on warhammer…
I’m sure I’m in that video somewhere, lol.
It’s currently 7 degrees outside. When I got up, my neighbor had her lovely dog Sophie in her garage I know this because Sophie doesn’t want to be away from her human and will bark nonstop when alone in the garage.
I was hunting up the number to our local animal control/police when she finally brought the dog in.
Sophie deserves better.
HOpe if there is anyone here affected by the fires in LA that they are staying safe
It’s snowing! Woke up to about 5 inches of snow. I’m originally from the deep south, and we don’t see this. I’m a little giddy about it. But, I ain’t going outside today. I am watching the weirdos run out in the park… Yeah, no. Though the guy and his dog were cute. The dog was chasing snowflakes and the guy was trying to catch the dog. lol.
Been off WoW for a bit and playing BG3 with ferocity to finally finish it.
Joined a Gungfu class yesterday so I’m hyped about that- did some work with other people (after training by myself for 4 years) and it was so much fun.
My PLLC is doing well- got a few new clients this year.
Life is GOOD
Just a day after Meta announced the removal of third party fact checkers, I noticed my feed was awash suddenly with a bunch of really low quality A.I. garbage. Faux movie trailers, articles, pictures…
I’m not a huge social media user, but I’m savvy enough to know just shutting it down completely risks a unhealthy isolation, so I finally signed up for Bluesky. It’s not what I’d call “better”, but at least I’m seeing actual people and not just a INSERTNAMEHERE.core posting random pages or movie clips.
Bluesky is fun except for the heavy gated community vibes. But if you like watching liberal in-fighting, it’s the place to be.
I don’t, so I went and did something else. Might learn how to bake.
I’ll take liberal infighting over “WATCH THE NEW TRAILER FOR BACK TO THE FUTURE 4” any day of the week.
Honestly it’s just a place to collect my pictures of painted plastic mans and funny heehoos regardless.
Check out clear sky and see if you’ve been blocked by Soap. That guy cracks me up, my friend sent me clear sky and that guy was blocking me I’m like huh I just post pictures of my dog. His whole deal is I guess he’s trying to get on the leader boards on clear sky and his top post is like - everyone is like why is soap blocking me and never how is soap and yah thats funny I like that guy block on my dude
Oof, that’d do it. Female cats can be very territorial and for good reason: They need a whole territory’s worth of resources to feed and protect their offspring. Add hormones into that mix with a delayed spay and that basically set the stage of your kitties’ relationship with one another.
In situations like this, you should consider separating and doing a re-introduction. Feed them on separate sides of a door so they associate each other’s smell with food. When there are no more growls and they eat undisturbed, open the door a crack during feeding time. When they adjust to that, change to a gate or better yet, a screen. Let them set the pace and if it ever devolves into territorial or aggressive behavior again, just go back a step and be patient.
You also can use tools like Feliway/Comfort Zone, which are plugins that give off a synthetic version of the “this is mine” kitty pheromone that they rub on things with their cheeks. It diffuses around a space within 48 hours, is undetectable to humans, and can put territorially insecure cats partly at ease. Put them around communal resources like food, water, litter boxes, and coveted sleeping spaces.
There are a few other recommendations as well, such as making sure this is purely behavioral by ruling out any medical causes with your vet. Any number of medical issues or discomfort can also lead to antisocial symptoms in cats so make sure that’s cleared before getting started on the above.
The rest can come in DMs if you want to chat further.
Edit: Small grammar edits later in the same because I typed the above on my phone.
Same!
It took me 3 Lyft driver’s to get to work today. 2 canceled mid-route, number 3 came from the next city over. But he was the champ!
I was very excited to get into the lab though! I like to be a Rakham of my word, and I told my boss that I would be there.
Fridays at my work are virtual. So we I am “technically” working. Though I am playing WoW right now.
You are a better person than me, I don’t think I would have made it in. A couple of years back we had a bad icestorm and then several inches of snow. My husband had to go in, so I drove him. (Long story, but he doesn’t drive and I actually have been taught to how to drive in this kind of weather.) I didn’t want to do it but I did. Never again. Never ever. The city doesn’t know what to do with snow and ice and most drivers can’t handle things in good weather.
My car will not make it. I know. I tried in the past. Lyft is my go to. It was a little rough with the 2 cancels but the 3rd guy was a pro, and I gave him a good tip. My fare was only 17 bucks, too. Which is less than a hotel, I got to sleep in my own bed, and if we did have an accident (like almost taking out a mailbox)… It isn’t my car!
