WWmonk needs more dragonball z

What is up with all these pet\statue talents\spells. Give me a Kamehameha or spirit bomb, how do we get a CHI fighter class and you only give us one chi like blast. Monk dev, go watch DBZ Sayian Saga and add in some DBZ stuff.

Please no. More martial arts based on kung fu, not this anime stuff

Why would another kick, statue or summon be more fun that a chi blast or something actually interesting. What is fun about summoning a statue or a pet that just attacks the target. How many kicks do you need 5 or 6? WWmonk is so tame on the Chi Monk fantasy

soul fist from Lost ark does it amazingly.

We completely need more Ryu/Ken/Akuma style play and get away from this pokemon master we currently are. If I wanted to summon I’d play lock. I want to kick punch and super sayien.

Monks did have another DragonBall Z-like ability, similiar to Chi Burst, called Spinning Fire Blossom.

I absolutely loved the ability, even though it wasn’t necessarily ever part of our core rotation, and always hoped they would bring it back alongside Path of Blossoms.

This will change your life:
WWmonk has low representation and has been for a long time since its the only DPS for the class. While i agree everybody likes different things i disagree that statues and pets for monks are liked by the majority. Some people like licking paint, it doesnt mean the game should be designed for the minority.

What does that prove? Priest, paladin, and DH only have 1 dps class and they remain popular.

monk is just unpopular overall. and all this has nothing to do with thinking your changing the theme to your particular preference will fix much.

I want more martial arts melee techniques.

Look at the Kyokugen characters from KOF, Ryo, Takkuma, Robert.

Give me Zanretsuken, tenchi haoh ken.

Remove summons, change them to power ups.

As someone who has played monk for a very long time, I hate this idea. While I’m not fond of the current design of the statues, I love summoning effigies of the Celestials.

so what you want is an empowered spell mechanic for a kamenhamenha, the longer you cast, the harder it blasts
and an off GCD CD kayoken, that lowers your total HP by 5% per second for 10 seconds for a total of 50%, lingering for 10 more seconds after that, while increasing your damage by 10% per second for 10 seconds, for a total of 100% in the last second.

then you want another off the GCD mobility option called instant transmission, essentially a shadowstep, but infinite range

oh and and

another big damage CD, replacing storm earth and fire, that performs a short dance with a targeted ally, then fuses you together. you get to control the ally for 20 seconds, all your skills do 10x more damage , as fusion is not additive but multiplicative or something

also, for each time you die, when you resurrect, your hair color changes and you get a damage buff. does not persist when changing instances

Monk is unpopular because its plain and boring. I disagree that there is nothing blizz can do to make Monks more appealing.

That’s interesting, but I didn’t say blizzard can do nothing to make monk more popular.

Son of a…I missed this when I first read it. I actually agree with this.

I’m also really not a fan of monks having summons, but I do like storm, earth, fire. It feels like a clone or mirror image technique.

I’m honestly satisfied with the number of melee strikes and kicks that WW has, it has quite a few. Ki blasts would be cool, maybe just as a capstone option or something.

I doubt they would ever remove the statues and celestial summons as that as a lot to do with Pandaria monk lore, but yeah I don’t like that stuff either.

Didn’t read anything in this thread. Simply in here to boost it for title and OP <3

You bring up a good point, Monk doesnt feel like it fits the class fantasy at all. Its just punch and kick.
There should be a big cooldown thats like a ki blast or something that uses all chi and all energy and makes it so you dont get chi or energy for 10 seconds

like a hyper beam or spirit bomb

What does this mean? Monk has no cohesive fantasy. It depends on what monk you are talking about. D&D, Diablo, and wow all have different monk fantasies. And dragon ball z is something else entirely.

Let’s have a more practical approach to this.

We have a summoner class, and other summon specs in other classes too, so summoning celestials is not an unique aspect of monk.

We have multiple caster classes, so long distance energy blasts are already covered.

We have hunters as the pet class.

What we don’t have besides monk? Unarmed martial arts class, thats the thing that sets the class apart from others, even the spiritual aspects of the class can be themes in shamanism.

I think the class design should deliver this first, and other elements be optional at best and secondary at worst. Summoning Xuen, Yulon, Niuzao or Chiji should be optional talent choices with competing options, not something mandatory.

Chi blasts as very little damaging moves to just draw aggro or buils chi is Ok, but it should not be part of a core dps rotation.

I agree with most of this except:

In my head cannon, which clearly differs from blizzard’s current theme, is that a monk is someone whose strength comes from within. They succeed using discipline, harmony, and focus unlike a warrior’s rage, a shaman’s elemental spirits, a rogue’s stealth and finesse, etc. I think more magical abilities fit for monk so long as the source is from within the monk.

In summary, I also don’t like summoning celestials but I also don’t want monk becoming dragonball z as the op suggested.
