WW Scaling 70-80

Hi all,

Has anyone noticed the scaling at level 80 doesn’t seem to be right? I have low 70’s in my dungeons absolutely pumping. Whilst im level 80, 556 IL, and doing a lot less damage then last xpac?

Smart scaling this has been a thing in every content bracket since forever. If your not max level don’t worry about looking at meters they mean nothing pre full group 80

That sounds about right.

It’s because you don’t have the level of secondary stats you did at 70.

It sounds facetious and counterintuitive, but the posts above are correct: you will get weaker with every level you gain and it’s been this way for several expansions now. Its particularly noticeable if you had middling to good gear back in the last expansion, since those outscale the leveling rewards.

Basically, in order to enforce the endless gear farm, Blizzard raises the amount of raw stats it takes to gain a % point in your secondary stats for every level. So if you had, say, 5000 crit and a 30% chance to crit at level 70 (numbers COMPLETELY fabricated), and then didnt get any gear upgrades on the way to level 80, then your 5000 crit might only get you 10% crit chance at level 80.

You will continue to feel weaker despite the hero talents for quite somw time until you get “good” gear from the new expansion (which will mean Monday at a minimum, for expansion launch, and likely a few weeks for M0s to come out).

This is literally what happens every expansion… you’d think after 17 years of this. People would figure it out already.

But here we go again.

Higher levels require higher amounts of secondary stats to make up a percentage like say 5 percent crit will go from needing 500 crit chance to needing 750 crit chance as you level from 70 to 80.

These aren’t exact numbers and don’t correlate with what you actually need and it’s just for an example.

The result is that until you reach max level and get superior higher level gear you’ll start feeling weaker and weaker…until you get heroic/mythic dungeon gear and whatever else.

Ah yes, getting weaker as you level up.

70s of any role destroy dungeons. I topped damage as a resto shaman on many pulls at 70. At 79 I can’t do any meaningful damage at all. 70 tanks can do 80% of the damage if there aren’t also low level dps.

Healing scaling is also way messed up. At 70, I could riptide a higher level for 2 million health, which is more than I could riptide for on beta at 80.

At 79 my healing barely moves anyone’s hp bar of any level because there is also reverse scaling that heavily nerfs my healing on lower levels I think. For example I healing surge normal hit myself for over 200k, but I healing surge crit low levels for like 140k which doesn’t make sense.
