I have been looking at guides for Monk gear for my alt, and it seems like everything shows that the 2H Polearms are better than DW for WW Monk. Is that because of the effects of the polearms or does DW just not produce as much as 2h?
Probably a weird question and maybe this is just one of those min/max things but I just feel the aesthetics of DW fits better than the Polearm options and wanted other opinions.
Yes. That said, I’m surprised Rashon (and probably time stick) beats DW Thorncaller’s.
But with DW i can have 2 weapon enchants and 2 runes on for extra stat.
Isnt that good ?
I am curious on that as well, especially if you can get 2 1hs that have effects on the weapons as well.
Unless something has changed in the last 6 months, using two 1h weapons with double enchants and double runes will always beat a equal ilvl polearm or any 2h.

Yeah, you can have 2 different enchants which means 2 different buffs which is always great. Plus double the Crit runes. It’s worth the dual-wielding.
2h is better if you’re not worrying about thunderfist shenanigans. It does more damage than dw, so much more so that it’s better than the extra enchant and weapon rune. This has been true since at least heroic level aberrus and has been a general expansion trend for at least DF and SL. 2h scales better with ilvl and has taken about 1-2 tiers to overtake the beginning of expansion where the double enchant is proportionally worth more. This is irrespective of cantrip effects. We swapped from DW to 2h in SoFo too.

^^ This pretty much. Dual Welding starts out strong but the harder-hitting 2-handers overtake dual welding in the long run. Part of the reason is that the calculations on how much damage weapons do; as well as the AP calculation; was changed going into DF and as such changed the scaling of weapons.
Can’t DW Thorncaller’s because they are unique so can only equip 1 at a time.
