While these nerfs were definitely deserved, there were two things I saw that could’ve been done differently:
- A major one for me, Fists of Fury was nerfed by 20%; I would’ve preferred at least some of this nerf come in the form of reducing talents that now increase its dmg, as it gains 35% dmg from talents currently, which is now only more mandatory to take. Decreasing the amount of those talents in tandem with a smaller decrease to the base dmg would open up a path to more viable builds.
- I also think they nerfed our single target too much in comparison to our AoE, I don’t know about on beta, but on prepatch ww is only slightly outperforming on single target while majorly outperforming on AoE. I feel a better approach to nerfs would’ve targeted spinning crane kick a bit, while having less impact on primarily single target dmg.
Also sidenote, I saw they nerfed WDP, does it do dmg for anyone else? On my 296 WW it does on average like 10k single target, and I don’t use it that often in AoE.

They didn’t touch SCK or motc so AoE is still going to be way too strong.
WDP is good for AoE because its uncapped so you should be using it but for ST I don’t think its worth the talent point anymore. I already wasn’t taking it on beta in ST this just solidifies that further.

Of all the things they hit, I’m surprised they hit WDP and more notably SEF/Serenity.
Most of the flat damage nerfs don’t really hurt. However, the hit to XBG eats mega balls.

As a alpha then beta tester I can tell you the Serenity + Windlord was sick. I mean I’d love to use it but it was not fair sick level of dps. But SEF and FoF and BK and RsK getting nerfed also… That’s a big WTF??? Do these devs even listen to our feedback? Because monk went from number 5 dps to number 22 out of 25 dps… like legit bottom because those others have specs that still do better than monks only dps spec.

Probably what I was most excited about when the talent trees first dropped. Saw you could once again pick up SotWL + Gale Burst + Serenity. I loved playing with that during Legion. Granted it might not have been quite as potent since we didn’t get a lot of the cool passives from the Artifact Weapon to go along with it, but all the extra ToD talents to make it AoE and work kinda like exploding palm from D3 looked super sick.
TBH i was kinda dreading having to do double gale burst ToD openings every minute or so in M+.
It sounded both incredibly fun and painful to pull off since you’d have ToD on two different targets.
