without the double multi touch of death gimmick (details doesn’t show only actual touch of death dmg, it shows actual+fake overkill dmg) ww monk does the worst single target and aoe dmg compared to all specs in pve and pvp (gets cc’d and kited, then does nothing outside of cds), especially in m+.
please rework ww to have much higher consistent dmg and remove all touch of death cheesy mechanics. you can nerf the burst if you have to. ww is so boring to play when you see a sub rogue or demo lock outdmg you while you cheat the meters with fake touch of death dmg.
I agree with TOD cleave probably being a bad thing for the class, but our AOE is actually good and you are just bad at it. ST is mediocre. Just look at raider io and see how many monks there are in high keys.
My only complaint for WW is that we have a lot of bugs and a boring talent tree with a bunch of lame abilities like bonedust brew, tiger statue, and faeline stomp. Also buff WDP.
WW monk aoe is actually insane, I have a 1988 IO score and not even ONCE has someone beaten my damage, always #1.
Yeah I also hate TOD cleave, horrible design and it’s frustrating to execute with TOD not activating properly.
I agree WW monk ST is in the dumps. Have you seen the recent raiding logs? The dmg difference between WW monk and fury warrior (2nd to last in dmg) is astounding. On top of that, the playstyle is lackluster and just not satisfying or fun to play in ST situations. Outside of xuen, our 6 second 50% increase crit window, and SEF/serenity CDS, it feels underwhelming and uninteresting to play. I’m throwing out wimpy kicks and dishing out wet noodle strikes.
For some reason I feel blizzard designs WW monks to very niche towards cleave/aoe. Even if you specced into ST, it doesn’t make a drastic difference in your rotation or damage.
WW ST has never been much to write home about bar a few exceptions like during pre-patch and back in Antorus.
I will agree that our AoE isn’t great in the sense that it’s good when we get procs, but even with procs it doesn’t go the distance with giant pulls. Where I’ve done 200k dps on big pulls, I’ve seen ferals pull significantly higher. And the worst part is, those pulls still died slow.
Personally, I’d rather see DoCJ converted to just being free procs that you can bank indefinitely w/o the damage buff to SCK. Then get rid of the target cap for MotC (NOT SCK) and maybe buff it back to 50% buff a stack. Either that or get rid of “deals reduced damage to secondary targets” for FoF. Though that wouldn’t really solve the issue of not going the distance in giant pulls. Or they could uncap SotWL damage from two targets to five or eight.
Turbo fists pvp talent should be baseline. Its amazing the quality of life difference running around the world with warmode on vs warmode off soloing elite mobs.
