WW Monk design influenced by Jedi. Convince me I’m wrong!

Leveling this Monk here and enjoying the parallels. Some simplicity’s and intricacies are very Jedi oriented.

Chi = Force (and only Monks can access Chi)
Peaceful Meditation and the Yoda Pose Hearth
Crackling Jade Lightning = Palpatine
Chi Torpedo = Yoga/Palpatine

Overall the mind over matter approach, fluid swift combat and access to an internal “force” could be compared to many different sources however the Jedi comparisons are strong here.

Monk = Jedi

May the force be with you.

If you’re going to use Yoda and Palpatine as examples isn’t it more accurate to say they’re Sith? Palpatine’s entire reason for existing was to be the lord of the Sith.

Yoda was more subtle about it but he was, by his own admission, Sith. He said that “Only a Sith deals in absolutes” and “Do; or do not. There is no try” which are both absolutes.

Huh. Yoda’s long lost cousin Yoga?

“Dog of the downward you do”

OP, you may wanna have a look at the history of film-making in Asia. John Woo was making stuff like that way before Lucas or Disney could have even considered putting it to film.

When did Yoda say that? I’m pretty sure Obi-wan said this.

But who cares? The prequels and every thing that came after that has destroyed Star Wars.

You are absolutely correct. Yoda did not say that. Kenobi did.

The prequels are VERY full of some VERY good memes, tho. I give them some points for that.

I think your on to something lol.

I only liked the first presequel imo it all goes down hill after that.

“I hate sand” is my favorite.

Hrm, looks like I got them mixed up. That first one was Obi-wan. The second was definitively Yoda though. He said it when Luke was being whiny (which was most of Luke’s interactions with Yoda).

A present from me:

Oh yeah I knew Yoda said the second one. I meant to snip that quote down to just the first sentence.

I see your present and respond with my own.

Fun Fact: Jedi is derived from the Japanese word Jidai, likely in reference to the Sengoku Jidai, the era where Samurai were most active; making Jedi Science Fantasy Space Wizard Samurai.

Also why are lightsabers not curved? Sabers are curved swords.

Haha that was great. Ever watch prequel YTPs? There are some pretty good ones out there, like “Obi-Wan gets depressed” - would link it here but it has some language.

Also, the Darth Sand trilogy…

I believe that was the first one.

They probably would’ve been had Lucas been able to manufacture the original lightsaber having a curve without rendering it too brittle to use on set.

The reason the original duel between Vader and Kenobi looks silly because the props would’ve shattered had they done more than lightly touch one another. Watch the behind the scenes of that shot – it looks crazy with the effects taken out.

You’re making the case.

It’s your job to convince us you’re right.

Shamans shoot lightning, Jedi/Sith too

This Draenei agrees with the points raised.

I sometimes exclaim while using Crackling Jade Lightning, “POW-WHURRRRRRR! UHN-LEEM-MIT-TEEED…POOOOW-WHAARRRRRRR!!!”

Sadly, no one wants to be seen near me any more and this Draenei has no more friends as a result
