WW melee caster now?

Why does blizzard keep giving and pushing monks into cast/channel abilities. It just doesn’t feel good to be this mobile class then have to stand is place to channel CJL, cast darting wind, or press WDP plus you can not interrupt while channeling any abilities as if we where a caster. This is not a melee class anymore its a 6 yard caster that has to be in 3 yard range to use all there insta cast spells, if blizzard really wants us to be a caster they should at least give us 20 yard range on everything.

Who ever is working on Mistweaver they need to get someone equally passionate about Windwalker to work on this spec.

My only wish is get rid of the CD requirement for RSK and FoF for WDP. Just make it a charge that lasts 10s so we can use it when it makes sense.

The one thing I agree in this post is that WDP forces us to stand in place, but has such a short window to execute.

How many deaths do you have where you thought you could WDP and then get out of a mechanic but failed.

If you don’t do it, you lose that window and damage. It feels terrible.

Bah

Ww needs to have it’s 5 target cap lifted, period

So like when you use rsk and then fof it activates WDP as a proc for 10s? That actually makes a lot more sense.

I would love to also see the “knock up”‘component in a lesser sense be baseline for pve

Never died to using WDP, ever.

Yes they need to do this, it’s so dumb that it’s got conditions like this.

Why? Doesn’t seem to bother shaman. I hope you realize that “5 target cap” and sqrt 5 target cap are very much not the same thing.

Ww will fall hard on mplus this season due to many big pulls that we can capitalize on.

That’s why spinning crane kick needs to have it cap removed

Those talents make CJL hit super hard but it still feels meh to press.

Was there ever a reason for the WDP requirements? They seem completely unnecessary so I assumed they were leftover from a different time.

It was apparently supposed to invoke the feeling of “combos” in fighting games, but I always felt the templar strike and how it works is something that would have been better.
Like I think they didn’t realize we wanted the visuals not necessarily fighter feeling combat.
We wanted to feel like a martial artist not someone learning karate as a white belt at a McDojo

it would feel decently cool if i was at a distance when i press it but usually im just in melee range and the visual is diminished. not many opportunities to use it at a distance.

Not a complete fix, but be cool if they baked the MW pvp talent for lighter than air to work for WW too. So we can roll to move while channeling lightning.

Get hit with a knock back or you need to move out of the way, can roll then channel lighting while moving back into melee range or something. In my head that sounds cool lol.

They should let us bust out a sweet horse stance.

I see it as they meant WDP has a charge and can be used whenever, but on a 10s cd maybe I’m wrong.

I also like the knock up idea.

Well, despite all the dooming your favorite twitch streamer did while making their tier list about a cap that means nothing, I’m easily doing upwards of 16m dps on first pack of Cinderbrew which is likely the biggest pack anyone is going to be pulling. All good on my end.

i like the cracked CJL but 20 stacks takes a bit too much time to get.
let it be max power at 15 stacks instead of 20

Or let the stacks be generated per chi used instead of by mastery/ability use.

CJL is an energy user ability should it generate chi. Be a good option for the times we have to be out of melee while sitting on full energy.

This has been an incredible source of disappointment for me almost every patch since I started playing fistweaver (not ww but it’s the same problem.)

I want a fast paced, highly mobile, melee dmg = heal spec. I want less jade empowerment and more Chi-ji type of abilities. Less HoT gameplay, more “rotation proc’s and resets things.” Less hard casted “stand and don’t move” spells, more conduit and vivacious vivify and tft instant cast, etc. If I stand still to hard cast sheiluns it should HIT like big, like it used to. Not worry about “is this gonna crit? Do I have enough mists up for healing bonus to get through this?”

You know our rotation used to reset RSK every time. Now it’s like a chance. A CHANCE. Oh boy, with any problem mw ever had I just thought “you know what this needs right now? To press press tiger’s palm more times so i can BOK and hope to get RSK”

Where I felt very good about our cleave healing through fist weaving it’s now like “god i hope this heals them enough until I have a more useful button to press to get through this.” It’s better in single target, why our cleave had to suffer feels bad. We were way below the curve in single target and I don’t think bringing down cleave to sort of “balance” fixing something inherently worse than what other heal specs had was like the play.

Not a fan 5/10, if I wanted to play a caster I wouldn’t keep playing mist weaver. I’m so enthralled with fist weaving that I don’t even change talents in raid. I move one point and go fist weave the heroic bosses. At least there this weird slowed down, worse cleave, awkward stop and go, all that, it feels better there than pvp or m+. In the ladder I might find a moment of thinking “oh geez I hope a useful button comes up soon or RSK resets or Zen Pulse charges accumilate…”

What if like monks used chi (spirit) to enhance their bodies like in lore to do incredible things? I actually like SCK/DoCj cause it feels like mooooore, how to say, appropriate. Casts while moving, not a big deal if you waste a proc (unlike JE) because you can just get another relatively soon, spinning around kicking everything like chuck norris, summons chi-ji to run around healing people, stay mobile, can kick, and so on.

There’s stuff like this that can make or keep monk unique and then there’s like this push to be more caster oriented almost to the point of exclusion. Like if the floor for fist weaving gets even lower in terms of usefulness then we are just a caster spec regardless of what you pick in the tree. I know CJL is like an externalized expulsion of spirit energy in lore and that’s cool in theory but dang man, why does punching stuff feel like hunter pet game play

My primary issue with all of these changes / channels is the number of times you can’t be interrupted.

Fists of fury channel means you can’t interrupt a mob while doing it.
Crackling jade lighting means you can’t move or interrupt during the channel
Celestial means you can’t interrupt a mob while doing it.
Whirling dragon punch locked in animation but can interrupt during it.

My personal number of interrupts has gone down mainly because of the rotation.
