While I initally disliked some of the changes, I swapped gear to haste and at least did some due dilligence before saying this isn’t great.
Skyreach of course is a big hit, and I feel like if I’m not standing on the enemy’s foot I’m not hitting. Maybe this is a playstyle change I’ll get used to, but my feelings over the past couple weeks are it’s needlessly difficult with high pacing, and causes some misses on hits where I’d always hit before.
DPS is the other thing. I’m not 528GS or anything, but I’m 520, and haste is about 40%. So not perfect, but I should see some impact. Other than not being energy starved now, my damage really hasn’t changed much, and overall is a considerable amount lower than it was previously.
This is pre-patch, so you think, ok well they’re calculating for lvl 80. Well I have beta, and I’m not loving the results.
I’d say overall WW took too a big hit to a class that already feels weak in many scenarios, and could use some attn back.

Looking at the few things you have logged, I’d focus on learning the rotation before worrying about ceiling performance.

I’m 526 and still crit mastery and vers and in nokud the other day I did 460ish over all dps. In brakken yesterday I finished with almost 600k, and I did a ruby where I was at about 420ish.
I lost numerous zones because each zone has different sizes of groups of mobs.
I think ww feels good, but I do think the rotation isn’t as forgiving as it used to be. When I mess up now I find myself serverly lacking chi.
Just a couple of pointers and I’m no pro.
- Never use the same ability consecutively.
- Priority on abilities should be something like strike of the wind lord ( I think ) fists of fury ( full channel no clipping ) rising sun kick, whirling dragon punch, spinning crane kick ( full channel and can no longer use abilities during the channel ) blackout kick, tiger punch if nothing else procs or is on cool down.
For the most part if you stick to this you will do well. There are sometimes in keys where you will want to hold back on strike of the wind lord. Like say for the next big pull.
- Don’t use wind earth and fire twice on one pack of mobs. Some mobs if not the majority will be dead by the time your first on wears off. My personal general rule of thumb is one SEF for each pull and 2 on boss ( depending on bosses health )
Assuming you get all of that right to any degree you will do well enough to get 3k io and beat other propel on a regular bases.
But so much more goes into not just our dps but every classes dps. If your tank isn’t great and grouping mobs and you are hitting 3 mobs when you could be hitting 10. How many times did you die. How many times did you get targeted by something that prevented you from dpsing ( like running away mechanics ) how much dps was others doing. Did you save cool downs for big packs or just use them when they were up.
With all that being said right now as we are in the game I sort of like where we are.
Beyond what others have said, don’t worry too much about how your damage compares to other classes or specs. PrePatch is very much not balanced and Blizzard has done a pretty good job of spec balance, at least in PvE, over the past few years.

I think ww monk never felt better. At least for gameplay

So I guess all the PVE peeps are the driver of this class then. When there is such a HUGE discrepancy in amount of people playing WW in PvP it is CLEAR that the spec under performs.
The developers clearly see the data that proves the spec lacks in PvP and they still do nothing. Or when they do change it, they start gimping the class in PvP. None of it really makes sense.

Skyreach was the funnest thing about monk… They took that away. Now the class is meh to me. Clash is lame IMO

Feeling gutted and dull, I’m really missing serenity and hating buggy storm earth fire.
Time to move on to something else. Best of luck to those sticking around.

The class feels extremely gutted, at least in pvp. They took great skills in the name of button bloat but that made the spec less fun and you feel like you have less control of it… Storm earth and fire is trash and they took away serenity, expel harm change feels super bad for pvp, no more skyreach and the list goes on. To add insult to injury, the only hero talent that feels viable in pvp is a bunch of summons, no pungilist class fantasy… if I wanted to play a summon class I would play BM or lock

See, I think haste monk feels great. It just sucks they didn’t have the same stat priority as brew any more.
