Can someone at blizzard pls go through LFG and just keep banning these accounts?
I dont know if its too hard for them or too time consuming, can you just automate it and ban accounts that have WTS in their group name or description?
Look at LFG in my picture man, its turned into a Frankentstein, there are more WTS groups than dungeon groups.

there is an addon to filter out words just add -WTS to the filter and done , there are still some but at least u dont break the mousewheel
I stopped bothering with reports when I noticed several of those posts being up for DAYS. That I had already reported.
The problem is that they will eventually adapt and use random keys. I used to try to do that with the selling spam back when communities were a thing with the badboy addon.
But every single day, you notice little changes in their wording. Like .WTS, WTS., WTS] etc. It won’t stop.
The only time it will stop is when players stop buying gold…

What if my guild name is Wacky Turtle Safari and I abbreviate it to WTS?

Or most likely not enough people care. Funny how yall can ignore listings for groups running content you aren’t interested in, but let them say they’re selling something and you wanna run them out of town because what, your mouse wheel is broken?
You sir are a gentleman, a scholar, and a saint. Been looking for an addon like that for a while
Your argument is that it’d be better to not try than to inconvenience the scammers?
You can’t form a coherent argument.
One way to get rid of the advertisers is to get a filter addon and set the minimum requirement for +plus to 1 IO score… filters out WTS groups real nicely since most of these ads are put up by throwaway characters with no plus experience.
That’s the only reasonable explanation
/guild name idea noted
Except they aren’t supposed to be there any longer If anything they belong in the services chat channel. And I suggested they actually make a “Serivces” LFG tab which would further help this issue that way anyone posting WTS groups in the dungeon finder and not the Services LFG tool would be in the wrong.
All the groups selling in the dungeon finder are in the wrong already. They are all selling for money, not gold. But Blizzard is too lazy to do anything about it.
or you could just ignore the groups cause the stuff ain’t ever going away it is what it is. get an addon or just ignore blizz does do stuff cause they disappear for awhile then back again as always.i just find it amusing that people are still trying to rip people off in wow as dead as the game is lol.
Unironically I wish multiboxing was a thing for just ONE reason. So that a fervent person with like 40 to 200 accounts could coordinate spam report as advertising. Which would undoubtedly trigger some automatic squelch process to prevent the accounts from using lfd, until they were banned.
I didn’t like multiboxing but it would be a valid fight fire with fire situation.
It is not laziness. If you ban one, Great you didn’t make much of dent. If you follow the money you can ban everyone involved. Buyers and sellers
That’s why they ban in waves.
Funny how Blizz thot authenticator would solve this problem lol
Nothing’s gonna solve the problem unfortunately. Could only hope to inconvenient some.
They make enough money that even if you ban an entire network they’re just gonna purchase another account and do it again.
The only way to truly stop it is to somehow have the resources and cooperation internationally to arrest these people. that’s never gonna happen because they aren’t in extraditing countries

one potential solution is to just ban people who type a website into the lfg tool. it’s not difficult to detect when somebody is trying to type in a website, even the wow forums do it.
There is a huge difference between going to a website and making a purchase. It’s not illegal or even against the rules to be on their sites. The purchase violates tos.
There are 3 options.
- Discourage or ban the buyers. no buyers means no sales. This is difficult because as I said they have to actually make the purchase and that’s what’s happening on 3rd party platforms. They can usually detect it in game through large trades or many smaller trades.
- Ban all sellers. For every throwaway account that is advertising you could ban them but those aren’t the ones with the resources. It would certainly slow them down but it wouldn’t stop them. Many are either throwaway or hacked accounts so it means nothing if they get banned.
- Go after and shut down the websites. This one I don’t know if you even can or how difficult it would be. Not to mention discord is free and many of those are done through discord rather than a website.
This is not a simple problem that has a blanketing answer. If it did they would have done it a long time ago
