So Tyrande, high priestess of night elves, and Malfurions wife, takes off to Shadowlands to hunt down Sylvie. And Malf , archdruid of all night elves is like “ yeah no. I’m gonna chill here and munch on some leaf flavoured Doritos while you Jack up on elune Roids and hunt down sylvie. I’ll catch up to you later! Bring me home some pizza.

Wth kinda writing is this? Just totally abandon malf while his wife takes on the biggest challenge of her life and he’s like…meh whatever u got this

He was leading the Night Elves after she went bat crazy. You know, like a normal Night Elf leader should, instead of going bat crazy.

I can’t even express how awful of an idea all of that is. I seriously want to scream and throw things in a Blizzard conference room to tell them it’s insanely stupid.

From what we know from the datamine:

Summary

Ysera can only return to Azeroth if Malfurion stays in the Shadowlands. He convinces Tyrande it’s necessary.

If I recall, it’s been a while since I read it, it’s implied that somehow the timeline changed and Malfurion was supposed to have died in Val’sharah, not Ysera, which is why he has to be the one to stay.
