Dang that sucks…Mop was pretty good. I came in at the end of wrath on a trial account, bought wow and been playing pretty solid since cata. I took a break during wod, for obvious reasons haha.
Yeah, unfortunately I was not cool with the panda bit. I came back late ToT.
Ah, so you had to listen to “Wrath baby” for like 2 years huh? That’s rough.
WoD sucked, but was good at the end, IDK why…
More like cata baby xD
But I don’t care, that is still one of my favorite xpacs.
Only legion tops it for me.
Thats when talents weren’t god awful to choose from, tmog came to be, we got to experience reforging. Justice points…
That’s rough. ToT was a fun raid, but the isle of thunder was freaking awful for dailies lol.
I had this same experience. I grinded really hard at the start. Came back in time to get aotc and finish my lego ring lol. None of it was memorable though.
Hmm maybe because they released tanaan, so it gave us something to do? Idk. After doing pathfinder, that was it other than ashran spam.
How’s that work? Cata was rough in the beginning, healers blowing through mana in 2 milliseconds… I was tanking, so I died a lot until people got used to it, then it was changed to UNLIMITED POWAH! Oh and birth of the go-go’s, equally annoying “Random hunter: go-go-go-go-go…”
Ashran did grow on me, probably because I left early on, and when I came back there was a ton of content lmao.
I couldn’t agree with you more on this subject.
I really started when cata launched. I bought the game that black friday, which if memory serves was either a week or the week of prepatch launch. Technically wrath baby… but in reality, cata baby because that’s when I broke the lvl 20 limit, started raiding.
I do remember that haha. Focusing all spirit. I really enjoyed the tier. BoT/Bwd/FL/DS were all fun for me, but I also tanked.
Guilty… I would arms tank dungeons on my warrior lol because I’d get tired of people going so slow. But I never died.
It also had a lot of fun specs. Survival hunter, demo lock before the major changes…
I don’t know, it was a major turning point for the game.
You mean you don’t like having to put a full raid group together for a mythic jaina kill? xD
I went hard at the beginning of cata, I believe I was like ilv 351, 301, something and my guild was still leveling and doing heroics, so I took a break. I think I got interested in another game, so I came back late in that expansion too.
Definitely by Cata, people were tired of slow tanks, especially if you went afk, come back to mobs everywhere and a boss running around and having to wrangle it all back up… ugh…
I remember doing strat 45, and thinking: We should run more instances like this…
This was me. Somehow being a new player, I ended up being a raid leader and main tank 4 months in lol. When firelands hit, I was up to 6-7 toons a week I was raiding on and hosting public rep grinds. DS was just as bad. Tanked on 5 toons, healed on 1, swapped dps toons depending on how I was feeling. Between rogue, hunter, lock.
It was madness for sure lol.
100%. You also still had to cc.
I’ll still never forget my favorite boss… Ozruk
“BREAK YOURSELF UPON MY BODY!”
Someone always died xD
I REALLY miss og wailing caverns and scholo. Classic timewalking please blizzard.
Funny, when I came back, I did TW, and I completely forgot about that part and got insta-spanked. Karma for laughing at people I’m sure…
Old instances were a blast, ST, scholo for sure, that was my first taste of soloing and I made a fortune off life stealing enchant. Which was super rare in vanilla, but in TBC it dropped every run and not many people were doing it. Helping people get paladin mount/Lock mount… Good ole days (sorta) it was just a different time community and all that jazz.
I agree! They scale old raids harder today, and the only reason is MORE playtime! But to their surprise PPL quit and play other games instead.
Surprise blizzard! A Freshman at business school could understand that logic!
it’s harder today?
I read that at level 70, Legion raids will become trivial. Maybe that should be common sense, but I’m pretty sure it was an article by Blizz. So hopefully they’re actually aware and will be implementing a “fix” for it.
I’ll try to find the article.
Edit: it’s on Icy Veins but I cant link to it.
You can already solo Legion legacy raids wym?
It isn’t just player versus content level difference, but the fact the stat squash flatted the stat curve between expansions such that our absolute power was substantially nerfed.
During testing of the stat squash, Blizzard and Ion reiterated several times that our relative power would be maintained in legacy content through the retuning of the legacy buff, which originally started kicking in at a 10-level difference.
What actually happened was a series of changes where the legacy buff doesn’t even apply until 11 levels (so no buff for BfA in SL). and the buff itself does not bring relative player power back where it would be had the stat squash not occurred.
Since then it’s been silence, disingenuous statements, and outright lies by Ion about what happened, what changed, and what was originally communicated.
So one can either conclude the developers are totally incompetent, or this is by design but they are too weak to step up and admit it as such.
To the thread at large: none of the above has anything to do with which content is currently solo-able or the associated gear / level requirements, but rather information on how legacy content worked ahead of SL (which nerfed absolute player power).
It is also a call out on Blizzard based on their original statements / commitments that relative player power would be maintained in legacy content post-stat squash, which they have thus far failed to deliver.
Yes! Since the stat squish has the legacy buff been wacky tuning wise!
In WOtLK could I solo TBC raids with small effort and that was only 10 lvl difference.
Legion is now (soon) three expansion old and still have long and boring fights (and some hard). We should be able to one shot (almost) every mob in legion content by now!
And in DF should be be able to farm BFA raids with close to non effort! But as MrGM show us in his stream, we are nowhere close to be able to solo BFA mythic raids in DF (not even with tier)!
Otherwise do like FFXIV where you get tokens from old raid that you can buy gear or mount with from that raid!
From my testing, mythic legion bosses were as fast, if not faster to kill than before. Mythic BFA 5man bosses were also about the same to solo, and BFA raid bosses were slightly longer (due to the added HP they did game-wide) . What you can solo in 9.2 you can still solo in prepatch.
You are wrong. Before Legion hit 2 expansions old it was always easy in greens at max level. I AM KRUMTOILET!!!
?
My main character is almost full Mythic equipped and the later bosses in ToS and Antorus as a whole are still hard and I haven’t been able to to clear them.
Except that being able to stomp what used to give you trouble is also a RPG/MMO principle. The devs even complied in the past by allowing people to enter raids solo and remove or change mechanics that prevented solo so you could do it now.
