So a better way is to look at representation while also considering a spec’s overall popularity. The ideal expectation would be that 2 classes of equal strength would have a similar ratio. Now we still can’t just look at this and draw a definitive conclusion, as there are other factors that may cause a spec to be higher or lower other than raw strength. Spec difficulty and, similarly, skill floor/ceiling are just what immediately comes to mind.
This is data from solo shuffle that I just gathered from check-pvp. Normally I’d also filter through and gather the amount above 1600, but there are far more dps than healers, so I don’t want to spend that time. Sorted by the ratio of players of a spec to reach 2100 compared to their overall population above 1000 rating, and color coded red for melee and blue for ranged.
