Wrong tier color given at catalyst

GM advised me to report this here to get it fixed. Not sure if that will happen but here is to hoping. I had been trying to get a transmog sorted and need the “Normal” color appearance for last season’s tier set on my shoulders, hands, and pants. I used a 415 ilvl, a 428 ilvl, and even a 450ilvl items at the catalyst and each one provided me the “Raid Finder” color, which is not what it should provided at these ilvl’s. I even tried to them upgrade one of the items that had been used at the catalyst to see if it would maybe update the color as it went higher, it did not. After a few messages back and forth with a GM, they advised me to place the issue here and they advised it would get fixed.

From my own experiments, it appears that the Season 3 catalyst treats ilevel 450 as Raid Finder but ilevel 454 as Normal. I don’t have any catalyzable pieces high enough to tell if there is a Heroic tint level, but there might be.

The breakpoints for transmog for this season’s gear is 454 for normal, 467 for heroic, and 480 for mythic (the base ilvl of the tiers). Usually you can’t get heroic from open world gear until later in the season when they have catchup champion gear. You can get LFR and normal appearances from veteran, normal and heroic from champion, heroic and mythic from hero, and mythic from mythic.

I think in this case the OP is referring to the last season open world gear which has technically been upgraded from last season veteran/champ to the lower tiers (adventurer/explorer). Last season you could catalyze them to get up to heroic mogs, but I believe if you use them now you just get the base tier set mog from S2, but it doesn’t change as it did prior from LFR. I’m not sure if that was intended or just an oversight.

Correct. I am referring to season 2 gear. No matter what ilvl you use, it gives you the LFR appearance.
