Wrathgate Mystery Solved! Kinda? (Sylvanas novel spoilers)

She obviously knew about the plague being developed, but they sorta changed it (what was the original lore?) to Putress being the inventor.

She wouldn’t have minded the collateral damage if it meant killing Arthas. But she didn’t intend for it to be used against the living. Using it the way Putress did screwed her over.

One commenter said this “marries” the cinematic with what Afrasiabi said. I’m okay with it.

We also learned Horde Halls of Reflection (and probably the other dungeons) is canon.

I still don’t get the logic for the sludge fields, blighting of gilneas, teldrassil, darkshore, her alliance with helya, the need for the lantern and her deception to Saurfang.

Or is that not canon anymore?

Sludge fields: Rebel forsaken wanted to make his own undead army. Originally the place was for growing mushrooms and things for the blight. Sylvanas ordered the Warden’s death after learning.

Blighting of Gilneas: Varian sent an army to destroy the forsaken and take Lordaeron (Syvanas foresaw this when she died). Blighting them was the best way to destroy that army with minimal losses.

Teldrassil and Darkshore: More souls to empower the Maw simple as that.

Alliance with Helya: Jailer wanted the powerful Valks of Odyn.

Care to elaborate?

Sylvanas mentions WotLK dungeons she’s involved in. It’s canon that she’s involved in the three Icecrown dungeons, not Jaina.

In-game in this very expansion, Jaina says that she fought Arthas in Icecrown Citadel

Edge of Night also has her not knowing about the “there must always be a Lich King” thing, which she’d have known had she spoken to Uther

I guess that means they were both there at the same time

Does that mean Uther calling a woman who is hundreds of years older than him “girl” is canon? Cancel this man

That makes no sense but it’s typical for Blizzard

Blizz forgot…again.

The lore from Vanilla was that Sylvanas ordered the RAS to develop a “new plague” to be used against the scourge (and maybe even the living in the long term).

Gilneas was destroyed because of varian?

Also i wanted to know what was happening in this version of Sylvanas’ mind to justify her actions.

Like is it truly all about the eels?

She also inwardly confirmed her intention to unleash the plague against both Arthas and “the humans who spawned him” in the Lich King novel.

ICC the raid is Alliance canon, ICC dungeons are Horde canon. Not that hard.

Jaina never fought Arthas in the ICC raid. She fights him in Halls of Reflection.

It’s clear Golden/Blizzard wanted their cake and eat it too with this particular lore. She is both responsible and not responsible for the Wrathgate!

It was always Putress, afaik. Like in Wrath it’s obvious that the expedition to Undercity is to suppress a coup against Sylvanas

Blighting Gilneas was to spite Garrosh.

Sylvanas is full on nihilistic by the time of WoT and is all in on sending souls to the Maw.

The soulcage was intended to be used to take souls from Odyn and send them to the Maw.

Sylvanas actually wanted Saurfang to join her on her plan, and asks him questions relating to changing fate and how he feels about what happened to his son. He says that no one should have the power to do that, so Sylvanas changes her mind about letting him know the true plan.
