If my (young adult) orc lost her father at the Wrathgate due to the Blight, would it make sense for her to hold a grudge/general dislike against the Forsaken in general, assuming it fits her character?
Thanks,
El (:

Sure.
While it would be somewhat misguided, I don’t see any reason why not.
Sweet, thanks.
edit: not sweet, but you get what i mean haha
Alex Afrasabi said Sylvanas planned the Wrathgate, so you should hate her especially! Blizzard says she’s evil and you should hate her!
Does my orc read Eurogamer?
Could your young orc realize that the Burning Legion was ultimately behind the Wrathgate?
Considering that the Forsaken are up to new shenannigans, you don’t even have to reach that far back.
They backtracked on that after that. It was Blizz forgetting its lore again.
Blame Thrall. Made his own bed by inviting em in
Orcs hating the Legion is a given, including over the Wrathgate. However, even if Sylvanas didn’t plan the Wrathgate, the Forsaken made the means which Putress executed it with, and continue to use it to this day. It’d make perfect sense for an orc to hold disdain towards the Forsaken for it, much like any race could hold disdain towards any race for atrocities suffered at the hands of any one major figure - Garrosh, Daelin, Garithos, etc.
They didn’t say that. They said “Our official position is maybe.”
Which I mean, the Creative Director obviously knows the truth and spoke the truth, but Ion is more concerned with keeping your money.
Going from yes to maybe is a backtrack maybe not a full one but still a backtrack.
This is the same team that forgot Garrosh was supposed to be a hero and forget if characters are alive or dead. The same team that said the Horde would have good reasons for attacking Darn and that the Burning of the tree would be a mystery. The same team who cant decide if Sylvanas is evil or not.
They change the story at whim to suit what ever new idea they have at the moment which is why the lore is always a hot mess.
Let’s not derail a thread of a role player asking for lore tips.
Hatred isn’t rational. It can have a source, but can spiral out of control.
With Varimathras taking over Undercity, this young orc probably wouldnt realize that Sylvanas was behind it. Just like us for all these years.
Unless she went to Antorus.
How much do Orcs trust the words of Demons at this point?
I would say so.
I have always suspected Sylvanas of having a lot more to do with the events at the Wrathgate. I never bought the whole, “Hey I developed this horrific chemical weapon to use against Arthas, but I super promise that it wasn’t me who bombed our own forces to get at him”
At the bare minimum she not only oversaw the development, and deployment of the blight, but had Putress and the dreadlord Varithmos (sp) in key positions of command. Think about that for a minute. A friggin dreadlord was one of her top guys. How could that possibly go wrong.
I always figured that the Blight attack at the wrathgate was essentially the Forsaken’s plan b, when they decided it wasn’t going to work they opted to nuke the entire area in blight. You see the exact same thing happen in Lordaeron when they blight Horde troops.
Sylvanas’ only goal was to get revenge against Arthas, her only mission, she would do literally anything to achieve it. She can and would sacrifice anyone for that goal. She goes as far as committing suicide after he is finally dead and gone. Turns out that her soul didn’t go to a happy place after death (I can’t imagine why). So now her only goal is to “live” forever to not repeat that experience.
To me the only question has always been what happens after the Wrathgate incedent. Is Putress seizing power as part of a carefully laid out rebellion? Is he making a move because he was made into the fall guy? Or was he a sock puppet the entire time. To say nothing of Varimathres (sp) and whatever he was up to. He was more then a tad pissed and there were hints that it was Sylvanas who stabbed him in the back.
So yea I never trusted her and I am personally flabbergasted that so many people are shocked that a charachter who is ruthless as all hell, would be ruthless as all hell and sacrifice people she never gave a sod about anyways to achiev her goal.
