Lol I don’t need to try you do a decent job at it yourself.

I must have missed that part.

So, I just wanted to clarify something…

You’re effectively saying that if someone doesn’t raid, they’re not considered a dedicated player?

Lol what is there to do in the game besides raid? PvP is an afterthought of the game.

Is that so?

Rank 14 grind didn’t require dedication back in Vanilla? It didn’t require 16+ hour days of grinding? That’s not dedication?

WoW even has AWC. We even had an arena tournament in Cataclysm Classic.

None of these players would be considered dedicated?

Top-ranking PvP players frequently use PvE gear, while top PvE players usually avoid PvP gear, except for Blood DK tanks. Therefore, if you’re not actively engaging in PvE raids alongside PvP, you’re not truly dedicated.

So, again, I ask, what about rank 14 grinds?

Rank 14 grinds actually required to have PvE gear back in vanilla.

Well obviously - but they didn’t raid/do dungeons after that. They didn’t have time.

In other words, they weren’t actively raiding.

They definitely did. It’s clear you didn’t play Vanilla, so you might not grasp how the player base was back then; it’s nothing like it is today. Players helped each other get specific ranks plus top PvE guilds where also the top PvP guilds.

I actually DID play back in Vanilla.

I’m sure there were players that helped others get certain ranks, but it would be a much grander scale given how honor was awarded in Vanilla.

What were some top PvE guilds back then?

And no, they didn’t actively raid because they literally didn’t have much time, because again, how honor was awarded in Vanilla.

T3 players absolutely dominated BG’s. How did players get T3 if they didn’t raid and farm? and do the grind?

So, first, I never said they didn’t raid. I said they didn’t actively raid.

Secondly, of course players with T3 would dominate in BGs - it was literally the best gear in the game at the time for most classes/roles. That’s like saying a level 85 dominates level 20 BGs.

A player with T3 could step into PvP for the first time and likely come out the winner without much trouble.

And if memory serves, the Rank 14 grind came before Naxx.

yes, and in order to get T3 they had to active raiders!!!

Again… the Rank 14 grind came before Naxx.

Clearly you didn’t play as you would have known that Rank 14 was still achievable during naxx.

That’s not what I meant. I meant the bulk of it was before Naxx (in other words, the start of it), making your point irrelevant.

I’ll break this down for you a little easier so you can understand:

You never had to step foot into a raid in order to go for the ranking grind.

To pursue Rank 14, raid gear was essential; competing against other players equipped with raid gear necessitated having it yourself. Thus, raid gear was a requirement to achieve Rank 14. However, it seems that you didn’t play Vanilla.

I’m sure it helped a bunch - however, I never said it wasn’t ‘required’ to achieve Rank 14. I said that the grind was able to be done without it. (In other words, you could achieve rank 9 without using any)

However, once a PvPer received the gear they needed from the raid(s), they wouldn’t go back. Again, they were grinding 16+ hours a day for these ranks.

If the players were those of today, then yes, but in the vanilla era, the player base was not as selfish or entitled as they are now.
