Would you rather have Wrath of the Lich King from 2008 or a Remastered version of the game?
- Part of the charm of Classic is it’s a known entity.
Remastered for sure (but I have played wotlk on private servers)… flex raids and M+ are two modern wow concepts that I think have been revolutionary.
World quests pre SL were also great mainstays but SL has managed to destroy them or make them tedious by design (the BFA emissary and invasions were really good content).
Well Vanilla WotLK set the blueprints for retail casual theme… so a remastered version would definitely do it justice further more
Wotlk classic - just as it was back in the day. It’s the single best expansion in wows history.
Only thing that could even come close would be classic+
Would be dope to have it with all classes, systems etc untouched, but the modern engine with graphical enhancements to the zones dungeons and raids now that is dreaming but danng
Flex raid is neat. Mythic plus is Diablo greater rifting. I hated it there and I hate it in WoW as well.
Daily quest design is trash. The game should be more of a sandbox, do what you want without Blizzard holding your hand to say do this content for rewards.
I stopped playing WoW after TBC so I would like to experience Wrath as it was in 2008, personally.
Would be like my first playthrough, essentially–which is pretty exciting!
I would love to go back to Wrath, minus the random dungeon finder.
We already saw what happened with wc3 when they tried to remaster or “reforge” it. Let’s not do that again.
Do you not read news, tech or game articles? Blizzard hired a team to avoid that kind of failure in the future.
Remastered all the way. In 2011, Nintendo remastered Ocarina of Time for the 3DS & it was a commercial success. As of this post, they still sell physical copies of the game too.
No reason for Blizzard to not change BC or Wrath. That was for classic/vanilla. Remastering with some changes would actually give a allure to the games too. For a long time fans would discuss the differences. It would improve the original games too.
If I wanted “Remastered” I’d just level up in Wrath on Retail with all of its “remastered” 2D pixel spell effects and goofy looking models. No thanks.
Don’t actually want either. The dungeon queue wrecked the game and “remastering” would be still more changes made by the people who still aren’t acknowledging that the dungeon queue wrecked the game. If someone put a gun to my head and said I had to play one of those, I’d absolutely choose the 2008 version. And more to the point, the people who are excited about WotLK are excited about something that could exist, the people who are excited about “WotLK+” are excited about an unachievable fantasy and would quit playing the game immediately if “WotLK+” went live, as soon as they realized it wasn’t the version in their heads.
only thing I hope for when wrath comes is they DO NOT do cross realm LFG. That’s what initially killed many guilds. IMO that was one of the first big mistakes. What the cross realm lfg does is it pretty much stops people from interacting on your server. Why look for players and talk with one another and form communities when you can just go join a LFG queue and go right into a dungeon, barely communicate or interact with one another.
This feature sucked.
At the end of every expansion, we get the exact same response. “We learned a lot from our mistakes and we will use that going forward to improve the gaming experience.”
Yet every new expansion has the same type of issues and problems from the ones before.
Blizzard will never learn because those in charge don’t listen to the player base. They think they are right, and it’s the players who are wrong.
Graphical and aesthetic remastering? Yes, to include modern UI stuff like mount/pet tabs, xmog collections, etc.
Actual functionality and balance of classes, talents, gear, bosses, and PvE design? No. As much as several bosses could use a face lift, particularly the Naxx rehash in light of all the Classic folks plowing over the Vanilla version right now, I don’t want all new setups and challenges that will require their own iterative balancing and tuning passes.
I would only play the original wotlk. Modern is essentially wotlk remastered since wotlk set the stage for many of the systems in place in modern wow.
After what blizzard did to Warcraft 3, I’ll pass on that.
I would accept a remaster
ONLY IF
it includes
Dance Studios, combine all the current skeleton computer stuff to finally deliver in the remaster.
Flying Mount combat. Just give them basic boost/snare abilities so you can run away or hunt a dude down. PVP is a server option anyway won’t even matter on PVE.
