It’s like they forgot about how elitist gearscore gatekeeping was and I’m sure it’ll be much worse by Phase 3 – especially on megaservers

Military kid here, plenty of 22 year old soldiers who are overgrown teens. Doing chores and having a salary doesn’t make you an adult, I’ve worked since I was 14 and still think of myself as a child. Worse in the US where the army hands you everything on a silver tray.

A lot of this had to do with regular content being released, with 4 raid tiers in 12 months. RDF was what kept Wrath going strong in the 2nd half of the expansion. The problem now is that we’ve tasted RDF. We know how much better it is than LFG. We can remember logging in, queuing for RDF and getting into a dungeon within 15-45 minutes. We know currently that there are many nights we cannot dungeon at all with LFG. So part of the problem now that original Wrath didn’t have is we know how good RDF is as far as improving our gaming experience.

Yep, you can hang with all those “longtime” friends you made while flying to the dungeon. Nevermind the conversation consisted of “Summon please.” Or " Skull → X". Or “Can I roll on X?”

Or maybe Blizzard is wrong and people form connections organically at their own pace.

Since you are forcing your social experiment on us by not having RDF, I have an experiment for you. Let wrath start with RDF and your tool. Run them both for six months and see which is being used. The current LFG in tbcc is filled with political speech, sexual exploits, and guild recruitment spam. How is your new tool going to be any different? I spend most of my time with LFG turned off, so I am not inundated with useless conversations. If I end up doing the same in wrath, how do I get into dungeons?

So many good times. I remember that one life-long friend I made…can’t remember his name, we only talked once…where he said, “tank or DPS?” and I was like, “I’m a tank”. Then he was like “OK”. Such good times.

Flying is so immersive that me and my hundreds of flying friends I meet while flying all talk so much while flying. We all have 1 monitor and also want to make sure we don’t fall off our flyers so we are always at our keyboards while flying. During this time that we are very immersed and engaged and flying, we are chatting and furthering our bonds about how much we like flying. We all know how to fly so well now it’s so fun to show off how fun it is to fly to dungeons.
Not gonna lie,
If they set up 3-5 Servers with RDF to be all tied together. They could be currently dead servers. I BET enough people would Xfer off if it was a free Xfer to be able to have RDF. It would help the mega server issue.
Make it happen Blizz for the LAWLS.

That was the plan, if I could ever remember his name and/or if I ever ran into him again.
I did think a possible compromise was to have the fresh servers start with RDF. This would allow those that want the tool to go there and the communities that have developed over time that think this is the poison pill would not be impacted.

Of course that would have been a good compromise. Blizzard hates it’s players though and is hoping to drive down the fresh appeal so they can justify selling transfers/boosts to them after the 90 day period.

I’d quit playing my main with almost 200 days /played and start on a fresh server that had RDF without a second thought. I’d even pay a monthly sub to use it.

Exactly that. In 2008 we didn’t now any better. But we do now. We know how much toxicity could be alleviated and how much accessibility created simply by not removing a core system that was in Wrath. Stubborn really isn’t a strong enough a word to describe these ‘Classic devs’.

They would have done this if the system were working. Same reason they tried to cut the in-game quest helper and people had to collectively say “What” before they did a 180.
The more features they cut they less dev time they need to allocate and the less bugfixing.

If there was no Fee for get there. I can almost bet enough people would move. Have all the new servers locked together so their player bases are pulled into 1 big RDF pool.
Heck, I’d be tempted to roll fresh if they were 100% fresh servers no Xfers allowed RDF with PVP/PVE/RPVP servers.

Blizzard - change your mind and add LFD as was initially provided in WOTLK. Your bulletin board system sucks.

I use the word “hubris”. This group that has proved they have not been able to improve upon the popularity of Wrath in any of the next 6 XPacs since, feels like they know how to make Wrath better now.
