Wraithchill Cosmetic Weapon Effect Ranged Weapons

Point and case BLIZZARD I just spent over 120 AUD pre puchasing shadowlands. One of the inclusions being “Wraithchill Cosmetic Weapon Effect”, now if you are going to sell a product at least address the fact that it may or may not work on all items. This is blatant disregard for the consumer rights! Either state the fact it doesn’t work for ranged weapons/offhands/shields ect. or better yet seeing as the player base managed to apply enchants onto various ranged weapons through a glitch (I do not condone glitching) back in legion and bfa (ie Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle or more recently Pterrorwing Longbow only to be swiftly patched out meaning they are aware of this yet wont explain their reasoning) meaning it can be done and its not a coding complication. If they don’t want to make previous illusions available to ranged weapons as they were intended for melee weapons at least make an exception for the exclusive Epic Edition illusion ( Wraithchill cosmetic weapon effect). This is a recurring thread for as long as I can remember and I have been playing since vanilla and it has always been an issue for me personally not to mention that in my opinion hunters armor aesthetically has always been subpar in comparison to other classes (also the fact the only other mail wearers are shaman) at least allow our weapons to be transmogged properly like every other class! This neglect towards hunters is tiring and our patience is wearing thin and I will be waiting for Mr BLUE TEXT to arrive! I would like to see a disclaimer placed on the Epic Edition immediately and also a reason from a GM as to why this oversight that has been in the game since the implementation of transmogrification has yet to be addressed? At the very least explain why you wont allow ranged

Well…

That last part is pretty clear about it not being applicable to certain weapon types on the Shadowlands purchase page.

Apart from that, this has been how it’s worked for certain weapon types for all normal illusions, so there’s no surprise it doesn’t work for this illusion. I doubt you’ll get a reason for why this exists, though.

lol

Ranged weapons not being able to use enchant illusions has nothing whatsoever to do with however much you spent on the most expensive version of the expansion. There was nothing to indicate that this illusion would be an exception in the first place, so throwing a temper tantrum over it is absolutely pointless.

Its a debate not a tantrum Wiggly… Jodariel made a fair point on my oversight and that’s my bad for not reading the fine print. At the end of the day I want you to understand that this frustration is coming from a place of passion and that we all want the game to be the best possible version it can be right?

My point still stands though as far as transmog is concerned, ranged weapons are part of the game, statistically one of the most played classes is hunter yet they seem to be the only class that doesn’t get to enjoy all the benefits of transmog like every other class. If it has previously worked even through illegitimate means only to be patched out its even more frustrating because all we want is a reasoning behind why they are so anti enchant towards ranged weapons, can we get an alternative or something? Surely shield bearers would like this change as well. Maybe I am asking to much or am just part of a minority feeling this way but its been mentioned several times before with no response. Some closure would be greatly appreciated.

The enchants never applied to them prior to the transmog system is the short answer… (aside from scopes which didn’t add anything to the model) … as such it would take extra work and decision making and budget to add them to ranged weapons now.

And while I imagine it might be on some dev’s desk as a nice to have side project - its not priority.

They spent the time to get fist weapons to the point where they can mog into other weapons… The games been out for more then 10 years so they really dont have an excuse

That’s flipping a switch to have 1 handed swords display fists - same with maces and axes. That was strictly a coding/mogging rules issue.

Placing weapon enchants requires much more graphic design rework to place on a gun or bow.

On the sword - for example there are defined placement for effects. There is the blade where the spell effects show up - and the handle where they don’t.

On a bow - whats the blade part? Whats the handle part? Will that look good?

You’d have redo each ranged weapon model since launch inorder to accommodate your new enchant system - every gun, bow, crossbow, and assuming you don’t want it limited to just hunters - wand.

Where making fists and other one handers interchangeable maybe took - let say 1-2 weeks of time to implement the change and test it… giving ranged weapons spell effect enchants would probably take 3 months to a year to fully do the work and test out - just me guessing.

Its a major ask.

My major question is why do you feel so entitled to these changes? If you have been playing since vanilla you know blizzard isn’t out to attack you personally. It’s just a iteration of the game you don’t like. But demanding to get answers and changes just because you feel slighted isn’t the way that blizzard, or the real world works. Playing since vanilla you should just be happy to have transmog at all. They never had to implement it in the first place.

Posting on the forums because I want the to improve a feature that has been in the game since patch 4.3. Look reading over majority of the comments seems like everyone is happy the way it is so leave it as is. Not like many people play hunter its fine. I dont expect anything at this point my final word is i feel it would be a nice addition but if thats not practical to implement thats fair enough
