WQ ilevel not adjusting

My ilevel is 411 (armory might not have updated) and my WQ emissary caches are listing ilevel 395.

Random BGs are also listing 395 as the reward, lower than my ilevel. Why? Bugged?

I see you have a few Timewalking token pieces. Unfortunately it looks like those are not being correctly scaled for purposes of the ilvl formula used for rewards (even though it is being correctly scaled on your character sheet and the armory).

This has been reported a few times but it seems like since TW only comes around one week a month it is not getting fixed before attention is diverted away from it.

Thank you. That seems really odd, because it’s working fine with my other characters

I’m curious if your other characters have (a) as many TW items as Valk (I see one drop and 4 vendor), (b) as high an average ilvl, and © (more complicated) what level items they had in those slots before being replaced with TW items?

(a) because the way averages work, it takes a lot of lower level items to bring it significantly down, if you just have one or two deceptively low items in there it might not make a noticeable change.

(b) because the unscaled items are still providing whatever they were in 8.2 - 365 ilvl maybe? So if your overall ilvl is a bit lower they don’t bring the average down as much.

© because the game actually remembers your highest ilvl item in each slot even if you aren’t currently wearing it, so if you replaced a 385 with a 410 TW item that is wrongly reading as a 365, it will still count that 385 - whereas if you put a 410 TW item on a fresh 120 that only had leveling items there before you will indeed be including the low counting item.

I’m sorry the last bit is hard to follow, it’s a system they added this expansion to stop people gaming the ilvl equation by swapping out items but it’s definitely there and makes reverse engineering the ilvl equation a lot more complicated.

I get it more clearly now. This character literally hit 120 recently, so everything must have scaled down. Still, pretty weird system!

As someone that has managed a welfare ilvl for all 12 classes this expac, I’ve been chasing the emissary caps nearly every patch. I could never find out the exact ilvl threshold to hit the cap, and this post is probably the most comprehensive explanation for some of the weirdness.

I frequently used TWing gear to inflate my ilvl for those emissaries. That caused a lot of inconsistency for chasing those caps. Wish I knew that those ilvls weren’t counted years ago!
