WPVP 60's vs lowbies

I forgot was there a system to keep high levels from locking down and area and keeping people from being able to progress? The dishonor points don’t seem to dissuade high levels from ganking. I get the concept of it being a pvp server but on paper its fine, in execution it just doesn’t work since people don’t want fair fights most of the time they wanna stomp on people.

I know you could ask for help but the defending high levels don’t stay long and they are very few in numbers. And by the time they get there the attackers have gone with the wind.

I’m personally stuck on a pvp server with a friend. Friend wanted to go cause of guild. Tho the guild isn’t doing much to help out. Already got to a decent level so starting over on a PVE server would just feel sucky.

Works great. Love it.

Oh, and even when the honor system is implemented with dishonorable kills, I’m still going to stomp your quest NPCs and camp lowbies.

DK’s are only on civilians. We can camp lowbies forever.

Currently there is no honor system in place in Classic so there is no punishment for camping low levels zones and killing quest givers as of yet.

Dishonorable kills will be released in phase 2 with the honor system, but honestly I don’t think it’s really enough to dissuade those who only intend to grief people anyway.

I think there’s just some confusion here. The only system in-place will be dishonorable kills. That will not be in the game until phase 2 when honor is introduced.

Yea. they will build up enough points to balance out the negative that will happen when they decide to be a bully.

It’s all in who you surround yourself with in the community. As is obvious, my rogue is nowhere near level capped as I’m taking my time, but I already have a place in WPvP come phase 2 even if I’m not 60. I will be bait.

If you rolled on a PvP server you should know, there’s a war going on. Yes at times you are in the receiving end and it may interfere with your plans. Toughen up buttercup. Get some levels and go to war. What goes around comes around and if you’re down with that go raise some hell.

When it’s time for their bedtime or they’re at school/work. It’s a good idea to make alts to play when you’re being camped. :partly_sunny:

What happens if you get dishonorable kills anything? Just lose ranking?

Dishonorable kills were in place to discourage city raids due to performance issues and servers possibly crashing.

A dishonorable kill carries the stern penalty of not “getting honor.”

Yes, it’s called bring some friends. Also lower level players do not give you a DK, only NPCs.

No, they were put in to try and keep people from camping quest givers.

No, dishonorable kills only affect a player if they are doing the pvp grind. Back in vanilla I had a rank 10 warrior I was grinding up on then due to work I stopped playing for a few weeks and lost a couple of ranks. I decided to scrap the whole grind and start getting dishonorable kills. I got over 5000 before TBC hit.

A lot of people will not care about the PVP grind and just want to attack and gank, so don’t get your hopes up there.

If you are honestly disliking life on an old-school PVP server, your best bet is a reroll PVE now before it gets worse.

If anything, I’d imagine it will be worse. Many of the people who achieved r14 in vanilla are older now and can’t dedicate the time to grinding honor 18 hours a day, so DKs mean nothing to them as they won’t care about their pvp rank

All griefers are cowards. It’s just that simple. On a PvP server they usually justify it as slowing down the enemy. On a PvE server their cowardice is multiplied by the fact that they aren’t even good enough to run on a PvP server and killing easy targets is all they are capable of.

With these facts in mind, no matter what kind of server you’re on, just move on or take a break. The game will still be there and the sad little griefer will go back to being nothing but a bump in the road.

They only win if you respond. I find it funny to respawn over and over and keep count of how many times they kill me. The higher the number is the more I laugh at how impotent they are. Their lives must be so pathetic, that doing things like that is their only outlet.

So let em have their few moments to feel good about themselves. I’m sure they really need them. They probably don’t get to IRL.

DK’s, while being the worst feature of the Honor System, are only given when you kill NPC’s (excluding guards/faction leaders). Players are unaffected. Players 10 levels lower than you are just as safe a target as a player 10 levels higher than you (safe being relative to DK acquisition).

Honestly, DK’s are the bane of WPvP in Vanilla, as much as battlegrounds were. So many times a town raid was destroyed simply by a civilian getting caught up in the AoE.

Getting ganked while questing or pushed out of an area, is a natural part of a PvP server. And my God, how I’ve missed it.

Even blizzard, back in 2005, expressed concern that DKs negatively impacted wpvp. Which makes me wonder why they made the decision before the game even rereleased to go down the very same knuckleheaded path again.
