I’m finding that I’m getting more lag spikes as well as some other people I know when playing the game. Is it just WoW or is it the addons or is our computers?

Don’t get this much lag in other games. Would like to know if Blizzard knows about this

It would depend on what you’re describing as “lag spikes”.

As a technical phrase, it 100% references network latency.

This would more or less be on something on you if experiencing low frame rates while playing World of Warcraft. It is important to:

  • Make sure your computer meets the minimum spec requirements

  • Making sure all drivers are up to date.
  • Not run any unessary programs in the computer background while playing.
  • Adjust settings in-game to get the best performance out of the game.

If experiencing latency problems:

A poor Internet connection can prevent you from installing or playing our games. Follow the steps below to improve your connection and resolve issues:

  1. Shut down your other programs which access the Internet to free up resources
  2. Power cycling your modem resolves many types of connection issues
  3. Unplug your modem, and leave unplugged for 30 seconds
  4. Plug your modem back in, and wait a minute so it can reestablish your Internet connection
  5. Restart your computer
  6. Connect your computer directly to your modem/router to improve your Internet connection. Wireless (Wi-Fi) connections can have difficulties with online gaming
  7. If all else fails, contact your Internet provider and ask about improving your connection for online gaming

Note: Satellite, mobile phone, and WiMax internet connections are entirely unsupported for PC gameplay

There’s a lot of different factors that can contribute to lag spikes, if that’s what you’re seeing.

You can edit (click the pencil icon in your first post) this and move it over to Technical Support to see if someone there might be able to help. It’s still a player run support forum but there’s several very smart people.

Be prepared to run some basic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
