Yes, that’s the steam player population. I didn’t try to hint that it wasn’t. Those are still horrible numbers.
** gestures broadly at everything **
there is angry constructive criticism, then there is weird personal attacks like the wow community does
im guessing the ff14 japanese community just does angry constructive criticism
How long has it been on steam? I’d wager most people that play it are not playing it on steam. if it’s been a long time, I’d agree with you.
No, they were sending death threats at one point.
well they shouldnt do that but the murder rate in japan is basically non existent so its not like an american death threat
the old gaming community did everything the current gaming community does it was just…like…less weird and personal
Doesn’t matter, they’re still not as civil as you think they are.
The community there is pretty friggin horrible, really. At least in wow you can get rid of poor performers though. Over there, it can be blatantly obvious that the person you want to remove was afk and didn’t do anything the entire pull, and you’ll STILL have people defending them and threatening to report you for suggesting you get rid of them and pick up someone that doesn’t stand in fire.
I don’t know anything about it, I’m just speculating.
I’m willing to bet if it’s mostly japanese dudes it is probably similar to the old mmo community and things aren’t nearly as bad as they appear.
What are you talking about
gaming community insults and trolls are just weird and creepy now instead of just being slightly creepy and self deprecating
like the “say that to my face and not online” thing used to be half serious, but now people are 100% serious about it and its just really creepy and we all want it to stop
why did you reply to me regarding your self-projection post? I’ll assume it was a mistake. Pretty creepy otherwise…
Been like this for at least the last 2 years. Shadowlands did a LOT of damage, and while DF has been positively received a lot of folks are jsut still feeling BADLY burnt on SL.
And DF S2 has some bad pain points that hurt retention. More to do, but too much scattered focus. Guild Wars 2 taking the #2 spot is actually a surprising update, I thought it was lower.
someone was talking about arguably the greatest quarterback of all time Tom Brady and they were saying that he rarely used the word “I” because it was all about team for him
people rarely used the word “you” in gaming… now its everywhere
did our superiority trigger you? is that why you are here?
It is, the rankings are rubbish. See above.
they warned us about ethics in game journalism and we didn’t listen
like the alliance in the beginning of warcraft III
Your list splits Retail and Classic. What would their numbers be combined?
Also, I’m glad Eve is higher on the list, though I really do think this list is all BS.
I wouldn’t say any of the numbers are surprising until the OP actually says what the criteria was? Or his sources other then “multiple sites.”
I could easily say I found 10 lists that say WoW is the best MMO right now, source… trust me bro
And definitely take any list posted from MMO Population as a source with a grain of salt since they still include cancelled games in their list.
Wildstar used to be listed and now Marvel Heroes is being listed.
Too much focus on themepark content and endless reputation grinds. Every expansion generally plays the same way but with different graphics. The lastest “big” patches bringing us the Forbidden Reach and Caverns were uninspiring because they were basically the same content but with different graphics.
Dungeons have mostly become AoE spam. Feels like I’m playing Diablo 4.
The game doesn’t feel like a living world. I feel like I’m a tourist visiting an area for a specific reward and then never returning to that area again.
And the game is becoming excessively complex with all the needed addons, macros, and niche abilities that take up extra keybinding space but are rarely used.
LOL, yea this.
It’s there way of ‘extending’ repetitious content because if there were only 1 or 2 currencies, people could theoretically grind out the lowest level content for the best rewards. Sure, it would take longer, but they could potentially get those rewards grinding super easy stuff.
