Does Blizz now have some marketing/sales partnership with FF14? Why is FF14 constantly referenced in forums now? Or is the game so like WoW that posters are sincere as proposing it as an alternative? Which came first anyway, FF or Wow? Wasn’t it FF?
FF14 gets mentioned this often because people want the same game quality and developers as Square Enix’s game has. It’s a “kind of a point of no return”-situation. The moment you’re aware how much better players are respected for their time investment and how genuinely the game director cares for the community, you wished you never would have looked over the hedge. It is extremely infuriating how much we got played by the WoW developers in terms of service, costs, game quality and content.
WoW spends the majority of their resources catering to 1-2% of the population.
For me i couldn’t care less what the story is or what is going on. I just want to raid mythic ans do M+.
Although I enjoy this version of WoW it doesn’t take a genius to see that you need quality content for the casual playerbase because they are the ones that’s keeping the game alive.
Fixing the PvP system would be a good start.
I’ve gotta say that I think you’re onto something.
10 years ago, all my casual friends continued to play. Logged in once a week, did their thing, and made some type of progress.
Things that don’t affect me (AKA I’ll grind out 80 renown in a couple of days if I feel like it - or 5150 Soul Ash, 200 at a time in a morning, like it’s nothing), etc…but things like that affect them a lot more. They’re just not going to do it - they’re going to move along instead.
Add in that it is literally quite difficult to actually get into any M+ that you need (at the io and ilvl that the player who actually needs it is) – and you’ve got a pretty rough place for a lot of casuals.
The only people crying about WoW and the SL expansion are the try hards that have to play the meta because it’s what’s expected of them by their communities.
Us casual players are prefectly content doing some mythic+, arena’s/bg’s for some decent gear and then just doing what we do best. Enjoying the game and it’s vast variety of content that the try hards have completely forgotten about because it poses no “challenge” to them.
Some players are not happy unless every waking moment they’re online, they’re faced with challenges.

And this was reason enough to necro an old thread?
Hint: It seems like players of all types are equally unhappy.
My favorite kinda guild.
I said what I said
I’m a priest. I’m all about resurrection.
It has it’s pluses and minus.
Less stress, less drama, less progress.
Mo’fun though. Putter is my playstyle.
Until Ion gets fired… it won’t be. Sadly.
I mean this is true.
Think Preach and Preach’s guild breaking up early in the expansion would indicate that the problem isn’t just new and casuals. Infact it might be a problem with end game becoming so annoying and frustrating that new, casual, and hardcore players are leaving.
They just need to stop time gating so many story quests and make more story based quests. More of an emphasis on the fact that this is an rpg.
Smaller conflicts, more relatable casts.
u just described me. i stopped doing raids back in panda land and dungeons not too long after that.
i enjoy long, multiple step quests. multi leg quests. if u ever did engineering then u know how annoying some of those recipes can be, questing in game like those recipes, would be my thing;
questing for gear, mounts, etc.
subs are fading just like arthas
I believe things just became too overbearing.
