18 really isn’t a big number. If Blizzard were to do anything, it would be at 20 or 25.
For either, what I would love to see is Blizzard re-issue the original CE. You rename the pets as “20th/25th Anniversary [pet]” but otherwise leave the digital assets alone.
Re-releases are all the rage, and after 20-25 years, the vast majority of original CE holders are no longer playing. And let’s be real - the resale value of the CE is worthless unless it’s unused and sealed - no matter what the asking price is.
I mean, I’m not gonna lie, I have been chasing that panda cub since TBC and the only missing physical CEs from my collection are the original and TBC ones (I bought the regular games). If Blizzard wanted to make a quick buck and drop the digital assets on the Store, the dust wouldn’t have settled before I dropped full digital price for all four pets, no regrets and no shame. I mean, if I’m willing to drop between $1K and $3K for a sealed-box unused license CE (sorry, but the current 5K asking price is out of my budget), what’s $40-60 for 4 pets?
All I’m saying to Blizzard is you can either have the $$ go to some guy on eBay, or you can get the $$ by re-issuing the early Collectors Editions for generations who literally didn’t exist when those CEs were released and for old fools like me who woulda, shoulda, coulda and are eager to correct the misstep.
Stop giving Blizzard more ideas to milk cash from the playerbase. They have far too many ways as is. Stop suggesting more things for the store and start suggesting for more things to be earnable through ingame activities!
it would be a dream, I think it would be a great attraction for more players. The ones who criticize the idea the most are the people who want to keep the status of “exclusive”, but today what matters is having fun and seeing that blizz is listening to us
I would be happy if they just adopted FF14’s policy on mount farming where it’s guaranteed by 100 kills and old content is not on a weekly lock out.
In this day and age invincible just means you got lucky, or you spent many hundreds of hours one shotting bosses with moonfire. Neither of those are really prestigious.
This, 1000 times this!! Why punish your players with garbage drop rates and frustration? It makes no sense!
Blizz is great about ripping off ideas from other MMO’s, why can’t they do that one also??!? I swear it’s like the devs go out of their way to punish their players with RNG!!
I wouldn’t mind seeing this, but to keep the people who cry about FOMO being a good thing they would really have to limit what mounts are on the vendor, or can you imagine the outrage from those players that believe FOMO is the greatest thing ever.
