Just tried to use Wowhead. The site will not let me search, it want’s me to sign a terms and give it my email and other info. I have used it for years with out giving it the info or signing anything. Anyone have an idea what is going on.
I see the same thing
it’s probably related to the stuff going on in EU right now related to data privacy
If this is the case and its not a isolated bug or incident… Things certainly are getting worse before they get better.
can search it using google or any other search engine by typing
“wowhead” in front of your search term
or
“site:wowhead.com” to get only results from wowhead
so
site:wowhead.com Ironclaw Ore
searches wowhead only for Ironclaw ore
or
wowhead Ironclaw ore
Searches the whole internet for wowhead and ironclaw ore
Dunno, not experiencing it on my end.
I checked and do not have the same thing
nope, not seeing this
I’m getting it and I live in the US
I wouldn’t know, have had a wowhead account for years
Nothing on my end from a Canadian IP. As others have said, as a workaround you can use Google.
I had this pop up for me as well, also in the US. I already had an account so just accepted and moved on.
I am getting and I actually decided to read some stuff they linked. It said something about tencent keeping any data you fork over to Wowhead, basically.
The prompt explicitly mentions that it’s because of the EU nonsense.
Gotta en-crap-ify the entire internet and make everything super tedious because expecting parents to do anything to protect their kids is too much (at least, going by the claim)
I thought that was UK not the EU? Or is the EU doing it too?
me too, since around cata
can’t navigate to any other page unless you accept.
I did get the pop up now that I think of it, but didn’t think much of it and just accepted
its not just EU nonsense though, the US is doing it too
create a throwaway email…use that to sign in over there. Thats what i did.
Odd. I’m in the US, but have not had this issue. And I’ve used wowhead several times this evening. I do have an account, but haven’t been logged into it for a while now because I can never remember the password and always have to reset it.
hmmm it’s weird how everyone is experiencing something different.
I’m in Aus.
Not logged into their site.
I can navigate freely.
are the people impacted using an adblocker?
are we sure isn’t an info-grab being caused by one of their ads?
