Every time i search w.h. there is a big flash of Mcafee that i dont have on my pc , what do you think ? Publicity or virus ?

  • Install ublock origin click all the filters
  • disable third party cookies and all trackers through your browser
  • enable https only mode

There you avoid like 98% of crap on the internet these days

uBlock is the best, I get no ads anywhere using that one.

These people who complain Wowhead is full of viruses and infecting their PC are probably just clicking all the ads and have no idea what they are doing.

I do use an adblocker in general, but if you’re getting false alerts you may be venturing into the wrong website due to a typo?

That’s usually how that sort of thing happens…

Either way, steer far and wide from McAfee: Thing is more bloatware than an antivirus.

wowhead has been teetering on the brink of profitability for years.
several times duringthese points they have decided to advertise super sketchy ads with pop-up nonsense on their website.

I want to say there was a point during mists where people were not using the website at all because the advertisement got so bad.

As well, iirc one of their head editors had no issues with certain questionable ads (gold sellers, piloting ads etc…) during i think part of mist and early into WoD and put blame on those who used the site for those ads.

Why do you even browse the internet anymore? Every free site is full of ads, it’s why adblockers are a thing.

Squeeze’em with ad-blockers. If the site complains, squeeze harder!

There is a massive difference between the ad in wowhead and an ad off to the side.

If you can’t tell the difference… honestly I don’t even care if you can tell the difference
