Wowhead advertisements are great. I like seeing advertisements of new games that I might be interested in trying. Check out this little game they are currently advertising, I might give it a shot:

Why?
Technically they’re Fanbyte advertisements. And since Fanbyte has sites for other games’ fansites, it only makes sense to advertise those games. Wowhead has a premium version that removes those advertisements. Or, you can Adblock them off.

i’d feel dirty if i went to wowhead without adblockers. (yes, plural)
i used a laptop the other day without an adblocker, and saw youtube with ads for the first time ever.
it kind of broke my brain that people would even bother to use the site with all those constantly disruptive ads.

Whenever i check wowhead i like to see how high my adblocker ticks. I think my record is about 4k in an hour.

Wowhead is probably the only “major” site I know of that has the same sort of sleazy ad providers one would expect of a third-rate no-name file hosting site. When I have to use it, it’s only with extensive adblocking and I close the tab as soon as possible. It can’t be trusted.
Would consider subscribing to remove ads, but their ads are so bad that they’re practically strong-arming users into subscribing, so adblock it is.
