WoWclassic is getting pointless and eventually will end up just like Retail

I was an old vanilla WoW player even before BC. Main Priest Healer for a guild that covered a lot of content…

Let’s be honest…

Just look at your LFG.

This is even worse than the old vanilla WoW…at least you had a better chance to find people trying to do the same quests/objectives as you back in the day.

Now all you get is an LFG Flooded with WTB this, WTB that, Mara runs, SFK runs, SM runs, Arena runs, etc etc. blah blah, it’s so boring trying to level an ALT, it’s not even funny…

Everyone just wants to boost/power level… no one wants to put in the time to actually PLAY the game. It defeats the purpose of the “vanilla WoW experience”. This is exactly what led to WoW becoming “E-Z” mode.

And don’t say “oh this is because of COVID-19 and people are home more often” BS! this has been going on for quite a while.

So what’s the point?

Gonna stick to retail just makes more sense LuLZ.

I can sympathize, because it is annoying to see sometimes, and it does seem to discourage new players. I think the only answer is to “be the change you want to see”.

In this case, all that means is just being active on your low-level characters, doing those dungeons/quests, and being inclusive and fun to play with. I’ve been doing this on my server and having a really good time. The last couple weeks I’ve had to remind myself to play my main too sometimes.

Now, how far you’re willing to go with that is up to the individual.

One thing to keep in mind is that the players selling boosts are always going to be more visible. On my alt I might do a dungeon a few times and then move on to the next, so you’ll only see me advertising on those occasions. But if I were selling runs on my main, I’d be spamming that same thing all the time, day after day.

releasing released content shortens the progression lifespan of a tier so much.

normally the pros figure it out then they share with the genpop.

in classic, the pros and the genpop have already got it mastered before the patch day.

What did you expect the lifespan of this to be? Did you kill Nef week 1? grats you’re part of the problem.

Play on a lowpop server. I switched to one at “Normal”, which is still packed for an original Vanilla server. Rarely a bot, very few “boosts”, most people play and group for things normally.

In a game that is 15? years old now. What were you expecting to happen? Classic Vanilla is not the same game as vanilla was back in the day. The player base certainly isn’t either. Especially if you are someone that played the game back in the day.

People are able to take the gathered information of then and now and spreadsheet the game down to the lowest number.

There is no way to stop it, it’s a natural thing that was bound to happen.

Because people back then were more invested in the journey. Now all they care about is the latest raid. Blizzard spent the last 10 years training players that way.

Are you actually complaining that players are actually in chat looking for groups? Sure a lot are looking to get carried, but where is the problem? Someone is getting carried, who cares, he’s an alt and his main is paying another in game player to help. It’s a real living breathing economy.

I don’t boost, I don’t sell them either, but at least players can’t buy an instant near cap character like in retail.

Honestly they should have just put their foot down on selling carries years ago to begin with in retail and then also done so in classic.

Then again that would require people actually monitoring the game, instead of just relying on automated functions and algorithms like ACTIVISION currently does for the vast majority of the CS workload. It’s one of (but obviously not the only) underlying reasons the quality of the series has been on the decline for years, even while profits are up.

Dungeon finder would solve this

ye not everyone is still working on their 1st through 5th 60, after the first few of them you just wanna be 60 on the others already.

I leveled my alt Hunter purely from questing, mob grinding and 5 man dungeons. Didn’t get boosted once, not even by a guild’y. When I leveled my main I wish i’d done more questing but as a warrior I had constant messages from people asking me to tank and who was I to turn them down, so I got to 60 relatively quickly even though warrior is supposed to be the hardest class to level. Even on my hunter, whenever I wanted to find a group for any elite quests or dungeons I just had to look.

My point is a few lazy people spamming lfg on the surface doesn’t reflect the actual game, the classic community is going strong and to a large extent appreciate what classic is all about.

Even if Activision / Blizzard put a total ban on selling boosts. People are still going to sell boosts through other means.

IE: I can’t ask for said money to boost you but if I do this run I’m master looter and you are all going to set yourself to pass on loot.

I see the argument made time and time again. “With all the people boosting, there isn’t anyone around to do instances or join up to quest” And that is their issue how? It’s not the job of the other players to make sure you are able to enjoy the game the way you want.

I don’t think classic is getting pointless. I think people just want to many things handed to them instead of doing what they need to get the end result they want. It’s almost like people are afraid to put in any kind of effort and are relying on Activision / Blizzard to fix their problems for them.

No matter how you slice it, Classic is a superior game to Retail…by leaps and bounds… How many people would start fresh in retail, no heirlooms, no money, from zero? Not many, the only thing that keeps them is their emotional attachment to character(s) that they have poured thousands of hours into.
