I have added Battle net and WoW directly to my steam library as non-supported games. Whenever I attempt to launch WoW by way of steam, it gives me error 132 “Memory could not be read” however if I launch WoW directly via the file explorer or by Battle net directly without hving launched Battle net from steam, it works fine.
I understand this may be a steam issue and therefore outside the purview of Blizz, but wanted to know if there was any insight from anyone on things that can help. I’m attempting to do this so I can play wow with the steam controller
As a side note, the forums won’t let me say battle net with the period in the middle in my post as I’m not allowed to link to a site??
Due to the fact WoW requires the battle.net application to launch you need to do a few more steps to launch via Steam. The below should be of help to you
due to link restrictions you should image a . between Battle and net in following
- Open the Battlenet application.
- Click the Blizzard icon at the top-left of the Battlenet window.
- Click Settings.
- In the General tab, uncheck “Launch Battlenet when you start your computer”.
- Change the “When I launch a game” setting to “Exit Battlenet completely”.
- Uncheck “Show a brief countdown instead of closing immediately”.
- Click Done.
- Exit the Battlenet application.
- Open Steam on the PC where Battlenet (and WOW) is installed.
- Click the Game menu then click the “Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library” option.
- In the Add a Game window click the BROWSE button.
- Navigate to where the Battlenet application is installed…
- Win 32bit default = C:\Program Files\Battlenet\
- Win 64bit default = C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlenet\
- Click the Battlenet application (NOT the Battlenet Launcher).
- Click OK.
- Make sure Battlenet is checked (the one you just added NOT the instance that may have previously been in the list).
- Click Add Selected Programs.
- Click the Games menu then click the “View Games Library” option.
- Right-click Battlenet in the game list on the left then click the “Properties” option.
- Change the title (the top field) to World of Warcraft or whatever name you prefer.
- In the Target field, insert a space after the last quotation mark then specify battlenet://WoW
e.g. “C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlenet.exe” battlenet://WoW
- Click close.

This no longer works. It appears to launch then stops and doesn’t do anything.
